Bedard: There was second guessing about Mayo over summer and him getting a second year isn't guaranteed

I really hate to say this but this all looks similarly to the FattMatt and Dipshit hiring by BB. Not being hired on credentials/merit, other than being a great player, meh “exec”…?

As unqualified as Fat Matt was to be OC, his offense with Mac ended up ranked 17th in points. I don't think this offense is gonna be able to surpass.

I want Mayo fired but this makes no sense why fire him in the middle of the week just before a game ?
What difference will make? Can the team be any worse?

Bedard is buddies with Wolf.

This is Wolf leaking that Mayo is getting canned in a few weeks if he doesn't fix this ****.
That's Wolf ignoring how much responsibility he has in this, of course.

Looks like someone high up in the organization is making sure the media starts to clear the runway.

Not just 'his boy'.
This is his #1 boy, the one on The Committee BECAUSE of him.
Also, how was Mayo 'not ready' for it? He's had literal years at this point.

You think RKK would do that?
Do what? I stated (A) I don't think Mayo would be fired in his first season, and (B) I especially don't think it would happen on a Thursday or Friday before a game.

What exactly does Mayo do? He calls himself a "CEO coach" & from what I can tell he runs around the building trying to make himself look busy, pointing fingers & making excuses for himself. He doesn't contribute anything from an X's & O's standpoint. He's not all involved with the defensive game plan. He doesn't do any actual coaching. And now he's lost the locker room.

Mayo brings zero value & there's absolutely no reason for the Krafts to bring him back.
A leader needs to establish the direction that all others can follow. Delegating to three separate leaders with their own visions does not work in any line of work. No wonder the players are acting out.

I think it can work, but Mayo's not delegating. Wolf is delegating the offense to AVP around Mayo. And Mayo has to be the public face of it.

This means that Mayo is not setting direction which means that he is not setup to lead the team in an effective way. Young coaches are often too willing to make compromises to get the job only to look bad because they didn't put themselves in a situation to be successful. Wolf is seeming more like Grier every day.

Honestly it doesn’t bother me. McVay when he took the Rams didn’t touch the defense. He had Wade Phillips. Andy Reid doesn’t touch the D, Spags is running it.

We can argue if AVP was the right guy. The play calling isn’t optimal but seeing Maye play out there shows the offensive coaching staff has been doing something right. I am not that worried about the offense. I think they will be better even with AVP the second we have more talent out there.

The D has me really worried because even with the lack of talent we have a defensive HC and it looks like they have no idea what they are doing on that side of the ball.

Why would you fire a GM after one season lol?
Because he proved incapable.
The best argument anyone has to defend Wolf is he couldn’t pursuade any players to sign here. Meaning he couldn’t do his job.

Aside from Maye falling to him at #3, his off-season moves/draft was a blueprint to asking to be fired.

They have to cover their tracks just in case they continue to lose. I said during the off-season this was Bob's MO when his decisions backfired and I got my usual resistance.

This isn't a must win game for the Pats, but for Mayo. Every loss that piles up is going to cause the media/fans to get louder and louder.
