I think there is a good chance Mayo might get fired soon. Nothing is getting better, and in fact it's getting worse. The defense can't look at the offense anymore and say well we are doing all we can and they can't do anything.

I thought Maye playing would give a jolt to the defense. It hasn't which is troubling.

I said it before in the game thread and I'll say it one more time. What are we doing here? They can't stop the run. Gonzalez the savior of the D seems to be trailing every big play with a tackle, sure, but no pass breakup or INT. They can't pass block. They can't run block.

Look, I wasn't expecting many wins this season. I expected 3 or 4. What I wasn't expecting is the Pats to look this bad doing it. You've got guys cursing out the cops on social media. You've got a guy allegedly choking out his GF. They show no signs of improvement on the field. Maye is hit in desperation time when they rush 3 guys. He threw what should have been two INT's. They allow a punt return for a TD which sets a team record for the other guys.

Again, what are we doing here?

Bourne I'm willing to wait on... They should have had him use the practice window for a bit before activating him...

We know bourne can play . Dude was playing very well with mac freaking jones! Think he will help drake a bit eventually. Pop and henry can get open.

Boutte had a big catch in each game with maye but mostly mia otherwise. Hes improving at least. Baker should hopefully get some chances while polk goes on a little mental reset.

I think we only need a Tackle. We have more than enough guards and centers.

We need a #1 WR.

But here is something we need almost as much: LBs. Plenty of them. Bentley is hurt and older, Tavai is not suited for this at all, misses tackles, can't cover. Uche is just a bust all around.

Next year I only want to see Tavai return as a backup. We need real LBs who can tackle and cover.

Our game fell apart today when the linebackers all collectively decided not to cover and not to tackle.

Draft needs:

1. Tackle
2. #1 WR
3. LBs
4. CB
5. TEs
6. Safeties
7. RBs

I have been in tank-now mode to get the team better draft position next year, but I am starting to wonder why. With this ownership, front office, and coaching staff I see no reason to be hopeful, no matter who they draft… and I have no faith that they would draft the right players, let alone sign anyone that will make an impact.

But that PP mall is pretty sweet.
On one hand, yeah, the front office didn't really give the coaching staff a lot of pieces and chose to sit on the mountain of cash until next year. But on the other hand, let's say the front office maybe DID bring in some decent pieces - is this staff equipped to actually prepare and develop them? In a less inept scheme, would Polk and Baker be making a bigger impact? Would Maybe be lighting it up? With a wiser experienced DC, would these players be able to stop the run when they know it's coming for the 18th time in a row?

I started off giving the coaching more credit due to the hand they were dealt, but at this point I'm dubious if the hand they were dealt was actually bad or not - would we even know? Seems like the result is destined to be bad with this group. I'd be more inclined to give Wolf's crew one more year first and let him hire his HC of choice.

When we shopped for groceries this year, the world told us what to do first, and everything else we chose was rancid, unhealthy and unappetizing.

FWIW - I am pretty sure if you fire your HC during the season and hire an interim coach, you don't need to follow the Rooney Rule.

Kraft’s ego will prevent him from doing the right thing.

The only old people that never lost their fastball was Nolan Ryan and Warren buffet. Kraft lost his touch. We’re stuck with this mess I’m afraid.

I am finding it really difficult to get behind the team as long as Kraft is the owner.

He had nothing to do with the dynasties.

What are you going to do now that Brady and BB are gone?

It was all YOU, right?

Show us how a HOF owner operates.
My advice would be to find another team then. To you and the other diehard Belichick fans who will never let it go, it’s never going to be good enough no matter what the Krafts, Mayo or the next coach does. Your contempt of the Krafts for firing Bill Belichick will just make you miserable. You won’t be missed.

I'm hopeful that Jonathan is actually running the important decisions and Robert is just allowed to be the face of things while he's still alive to boost his HOF chances. Although lately I don't think it's helping him.

Dugger and Onwenu came into the season playing well. Now Dugger is back out of position by necessity because the FA FS they brought in, Hawkins, is awful and can't play. Onwenu is part of a dysfunctional OL and that's on the coaches. It's clear that they are suddenly pass blocking better now that they have a real QB.
Not well enough to earn top of the market contracts. Dugger had his worst season as pro now that he can't play as the 3rd S. Owenu isn't that well received around the league.
Barmore? Barmore played great last year and had blood clots.
He's had one standout year. Why pay him immediately? This has already backfired.
Rham looked good to start the year and is injured.
He had a bad season last year. There was no need to pay him.
You really don't believe last year's defense was better than this?
Last years defense was better, but that isn't saying much because they haven't been good for years and have been hanging on for dear life in Bill's scheme. There's a massive drop off because he's gone. They don't have any headlining talent on defense that scares opposing OC's. Barmore was on his way, but he's not there yet.

He had three straight losing seasons.
There was more to it than all of a sudden he was a loser, i believe. For one they traded aj brown.

The Gs and Cs we have aren’t good. Everyone has a lot of them, the goal is to have good ones.

Needs are everything but QB. If we repeat last off -seasons approach, next year at this time we will be saying needs are everything but qb.

That’s dumb! It’s better to admit that you made a mistakes and lose only 7 weeks instead of 2 years
Kraft is way too egotistical and sentimental to admit he made this kind of mistake with a "family member" like Mayo. Aint happenin' sorry to say.

Grasp AVP's playbook by Week 7? Easily.

Tell me about the incredibly deep play book you have witnessed? Remember that Brissett was signed because he knew the playbook coming in. Does the play calling look more limited since Maye started? Run between the tackles on 1st down, run again on 2nd down, and a shot gun pass on 3rd down. There is no play action, no presnap motion, nearly no RB or TE screens, rarely a WR screen, really nothing new. The playbook is so predictable every defense tries to jump the Pats snap count.

I thought it was because Brissett just sucks and doesn’t have the arm that Maye has so the menu was limited and now Maye is in there and it’s limited cause he’s a rookie.

Who knows.

NE is in bad need of one of those ‘everyone contributes’ drafts. The 2024 edition is all about Maye. But the 2025 edition’s gotta do better. Need to surround.

Prolly not the right game for a Kraft defense post.

Wolf is a bigger problem then Mayo.
