Mayo seemingly blaming Bill for the state of the roster

Another thing:

If you think the roster is so bad (it is), then why are they signing so many of Bill’s players? Stop signing them.

Bill let a lot of players go when he first took over while Mayo/Wolf are rewarding them.

Owenu and Dugger had no business getting what they got. Barmore and Rham were unnecessary at the moment. Retaining Bourne so early was ridiculous.
But they really stuck it Judon lol

You know, I am all down for accepting/placing blame etc. But this is a joke. A bad or even terrible one. So let me get this straight.....he is asked a question and gives the answer he did and it's being said he's throwing people under the bus, lost the team because of it, etc etc. And if he answered it any other way, people would STILL be saying he's throwing people under the bus and people would STILL be wanting him gone. I don't get the thinking of these people. I know as fans, we are a spoiled, rotten, entitled group (not all, but a lot of us) and expect instant results which is near impossible. Just because we got lucky with a GOAT, doesn't mean 1 we deserve another or 2 could even possibly get someone like that again......(I'd love to see some legit stats on that possibility). I get that there's people needing clicks. Everything is a business, but going on what they say in the article, he's a terrible coach, person, pet walker, and choirboy who needs to go asap.

“If you take responsibility and blame yourself, you have the power to change things. But if you put responsibility on someone else, then you are giving them the power to decide your fate.”

BB making sure he rarely “opened mouth, insert foot” analogy should be learned by Jerod

First off, extremely weird comment about hanging, and second there are a dozen ways to answer that better than he did. I have been branded anti-Bill by many on here and definitely wanted him to move on but Mayo seems to be over his skis in so many areas so finger pointing isn't a good look. Of course it was a loaded question designed to make people react but that is why having some clue how to deal with the media comes in handy.

"I believe in the guys in that locker room and feel like we can win games with them."

"This is obviously a team in transition and I will admit we need to add depth in some spots but overall I feel good about this group."

"We have a mix of some young guys looking to establish themselves and some leadership we were obviously intent on keeping this offseason. This group works hard and eventually the results will show it."

Three canned responses that would somewhat answer the question and wouldn't generate a soundbite. Really isn't that hard.
“Look, that’s in the past and not our focus. But over the weekend we all got a look at how bright our future can be. We have talent, although we have a lot of key players out. Our focus now is to compete harder and get better every game.”

If he can’t manage to be savvy, he needs to stop talking.

Now this is shade from Bill to Mayo and staff

EDIT: fake quote from parody account, deleted. Freaking got me…

I've seen the video of the pick. BB doesn't seem overly excited, but he is clearly the one in charge and the one making the final decision.
The war room isn't the first time these guys have discussed the draft. It sounded to me like BB wanted everyone to know it was a collaborative pick.

I don't see what the problem is with what he said, it was all OK for me. I just think the Mayo haters are ready to pounce when the narrative goes against their personal thinking. Jeez give the bloke a chance and get off his back. Its not all his fault, you just want to think it is. He is learning and needs the "fans" (or most of them) to be behind him. appraise him at the end of the season, then you can *****.

The Bill cheerleaders get so defensive about the Mac Jones pick lol. It can't possibly be Bill's fault cause he's awsume!!11!11! Lol

Not really sure why. Jones fell right to them, they were looking to move on from Cam and who else were they going to pick there? Davis Mills? Lol. I wanted a trade-up for Parsons but that wasn't happening so the pick made sense. I won't get into why it didn't work out so I'm not accused of hating on Bill for the 39th time lolololol

You know I'm a Bill guy. The pick was a collosal bust. But at the time it was the correct move. I just wish they gave him one more shot with another rookie QB.

The Mayo haters are definitely ready to pounce. But I'm not sure how you can defend his public speaking he puts his foot on his mouth every time he speaks. In less than a year he's managed to completely validate Bill's media relations strategy. Which I always felt was the right strategy that he took a little too far at times.

At that time Jones was the correct pick and he had a decent rookie year because he had a solid support system. Players, coaches, etc.

It's how Bill handled him and the personnel in 2022 and 2023 and Jones regressing thus becoming a bust which led to his dismissal.

Montana to Young
Favre to Rodgers

Montana is a GOAT type QB. The others aren't. Closest I can think of.

So..indeed the odds are not good to get another top 10 QB of all time , let alone GOAT. Very few QB, even all timers, are able to make average players good/great. Including postseason (winning SB titles etc).

Maye will need to be a top 5 QB in the league for the Patriots to win a SB though. The AFC is too stacked at the position.
