Best I’ve felt after a Patriots loss… EVER…

Absolutely. Pop has that breakaway ability.. no CB can stay with him in the open field.. he will create for others.. the offense can now seem to function like it was supposed to.. DCs now have to account for Drake running outside the pocket.. that makes LBs, and Safeties have to guess more and play more honest on D. Opens up the running game more as well..
Love that on the money pass from Maye if we can get a Tackle in a Trade 7/11 Pop Douglas will have a 200yds Game with Drake. I know Pop is the Happiest player on this Team right now there will be many more days like yesterday the Maye/Pop connection.

Brissett also took the brunt of that offensive line and Van Pelt finding their way and learning how to do their jobs. He also played tougher defenses in the 49ers and Jets while all this ^ was going on.

Brissett is merely average, but he also didn't turn the ball over for the most part. 3 turnovers is the biggest problem from Maye's start yesterday, those are things he can mostly control and fix along with inaccuracy issues on routine throws.
He was scared to make a mistake his margin for error was razor thin.. he played scared like he was the rookie.. he never gave defenses anything to worry about.. he average 4 yards per play, Drake average almost 8 in one game. He knew all season Drake was breathing down his neck and played like it.

And I’ve been rooting for the Pats since they drafted Jim Plunkett.

Pretty hefty words !!

The team may as well have open try outs.. anyone who thinks they can play come to Gillette.. probably better than what we have to call a OL right now. Whodini Lowe dissappear again..
They should just put Lowe on IR we Need to Trade for a Starting Offensive Tackle. Some Teams I expected to compete are ****tin the bed we have Draft position. Wolf's next move should be getting us a Starting Offensive Tackle from a Underachieving Team.

Thought Maye played well and obviously has room to make improvements. It’s pretty obvious we need the wrs to clean up the drops(Polk in particular). Maye also needs to work on getting the ball out faster and I think they will need to throw some quick outs in more often in the game plan offensively. I want to see how he does through the rest of the season but for now he looks to have a good base to build on.

I don’t want to bash Mac but the throw he made to boutte may have been better than any pass I saw Mac complete in his three years as a starter for us. I hope we can work some trades for o linemen either by deadline this year or on the offseason. We’re a legit #1 receiver and solid LT/RT signings away from being a legit contender.

As for defense, the hope is getting Bentley and Barmore back will solidify the front. The secondary will be ok. We need to get our pass rush back and that will help the secondary play for sure. Looking forward to seeing this offense work the kinks out in the next few weeks and see if the defense can right the ship.

Wozzy I think AVP will be let go at years end Maye needs a OC in this century.

I am excited. Maye definitely looked like a rookie at times but overall you could see the physical skills which is nice to watch after 4 years of broken down Cam Newton, Mac, Hoyer, and Zappe. That first pick I have no idea what happened there. He had time didn't have his first read and looked to Douglas coming over the middle and just air mailed it. Not sure if it was just nerves but obviously his worst throw. Overall I thought he made mostly good decisions and scrambled only when necessary.

How about we signed Donovan Smith or bahaktihari they can't possibly be worse than Lowes home improvement. I think we are ok at C with brown. Yes pop is an electric player our best playmaker. Drake is balling in spite of the OL

I think they go the rest of the way and see how AVP does.. have to remember he's a first time OC hadn't called plays since 2009. Drake is tied to AVP

That's why a veteran FA makes the most since they are bringing in guys from construction jobs basically.. why not go after proven vets at tackle..

He did. And I give Brissett kudos for that being a veteran leader. But he's going to do that. Take the 8 million and be the GMC crash dummy this season. However he gave no hope or spark to this offense.. missing open guys, not challenging defenses deep.. no running abilities.

Real: the Krafts are business men and they saw the sample size they will do everything to make Maye better even if it means moving on from AVP. It's all about Maye's development.

Your right brother no argument. It's just that the plan they had didn't work. Fortunately for us maye was ready by the end of camp. I just believe they give AVP at least the rest of the season to judge him more fairly.. remember AVP is tied to Drake as well.

He did a lot of good for someone who just turned 22 making his first start. He’s also still very raw and made some boneheaded throws.

The first interception obviously, step into that throw and it’s a completion to Demario. He missed some open receivers. He threw behind receivers on what should have been routine throws, I’m still concerned about his throwing stance which is helter skelter and likely why these routine throws weren’t on time. There was one to Douglas where had he thrown it ahead and on time it would have been a massive gain. You saw Maye slap his hands to his helmet afterwards knowing he needed to lead his WR better… which is good that’s he self aware.

He’s got a little too much Drew Bledsoe in him, the long ones look easy but he needs to refine his touch on crossers and short ones. He’s a work in progress… 3 turnovers and 9 penalties is why they lost.
I agree with all this. He has a lot to work on especially ball location.

One thing that scared the **** out of me early on was he gave up on reading plays and took off and ran way too quickly. That's a horrendous habit for a QB. However, he fixed that after the 1st quarter which was good to see.

The most optimistic part about his play yesterday, by far, was how much he improved from quarter 1 to 4, it was night and day.

Agreed. That will all get better as the season goes along. He's the starter now.. he doesn't have to worry about anyone on his heels.. this is his job, his team. We will go as far as Maye takes us.

Bakhtiari is probably done. The Packers’ equivalent of Miguel confirmed that he collected injury protection benefit pay for this season, and that’s almost always a parting gift into injury-forced retirement. Edelman and Develin are two recent Patriots examples.

The thing that nobody is bringing up with Smith is that we have no idea what kind of shape he’s in. Those guys in the 340ish pound range don’t exactly have a great track record when they fall out of the structure of being part of a team. It would be exactly zero surprise if he’s like 380 right now and unable to pass the conditioning test. Sure seems like there would be more urgency on his end to get signed if he actually wanted to play. I mean, Josina Anderson has basically made an entire career out of “I just talked to this free agent who wants an opportunity.”

It looked like most of Maye's bad throws can be attributed to being too amped up for his first game. I like how he got better as the game went on, highlighted by the TD to Douglas. He missed that throw earlier in the game and learned from the mistakes. He seems to have the right attitude and resolve to be an NFL QB.

Very, very informative post. Thank you for this. Well that explains why they are signed. It's telling that every other no name, or Prac squad OL was signed except them.
