This isn't the week to start Maye. Not even close, they just held Allen to 9 completions. That isn't a recipe for success for your first NFL start.
In a league where babying players led to championships you are right
In this league sucking it up and fighting through adversity is what leads to championships.

If this report is true than this team is more clueless than previously thought. All this talk about the plan, what plan? The plan was to sit the rookie against one of the worse teams in the league just to trot him out against a playoff caliber team? What is that ****? If that doesnt scream throwing **** at the wall, I dont know what does. If this report is true, we are in panic mode.

Totally agree. If this is being done due to just Kraft pressure , then the org is clueless and even maye development cannot stop us from being basement dwellers.

That's why I feel this might be some level of intervention coming up from NFL higher ups including goodell.

The plan might have been to trot out brissett till London, but considering the focus on expanding bases, NFL might have threatened kraft into playing maye for London and delivering a. Good product on field, else fining and docking them picks for intentionally sabotaging season.

During his Monday morning video conference with reporters following the team's 15-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Mayo was asked if the team would consider such a change on the sidelines.

"That's not under consideration," Mayo said.

@Ross12 thanks, fixed it.

That is answering a question about if they were considering demoting Alex Van Pelt. Has nothing to do with Maye. It’s right in the title

Fixed it for me

If you're going to start Maye why not start him against a bad team?

Texans are likely to destroy the Patriots. That would not be a confidence builder of a game.

It would make far more sense, if a change in QB is to take place, for his first start to be against the Jaguars who are also a bottom dwelling team.

@Pape @Toofy made a great point. What if the NFL suspects us as intentionally tanking. Didn't think of that. Great point .. something to think about....
The NFL has never even once docked a team draft picks for "tanking". That's one thing I'm not worried about at all.

Besides the Patriots are awful on their own, they don't even need to intentionally tank to lose.

Yeah that is why it’s stupid. If you were gonna make the change around now, the time to do it would have been last week. Doing it this week is idiotic. Next week is an easier matchup, but making your premier start in the United Kingdom is also a little funky and probably not ideal either. It seems more like they are just caving to either internal or external pressure (or both), but again… should have buckled last week if that was gonna happen. They probably decided they have no choice but to start the kid soon and they don’t wanna have him making his first start overseas at 9 AM so they may as well give him a home start first even if it’s against a hard opponent. They’ll probably draw up an ultra conservative game plan.

I wasnt really supporting the idea that they have been tanking. Maybe the “youth movement” is two fold…1. Younger players getting experience / evaluated 2. This in turn will result in Tank with Brissett regardless of injuries. It’s very bold and runs the risk of losing some fan base due to perceived “incompetence” but that’s how it looks on the outside looking in for us.

This statement today was the clincher for me believing this is the case “"That's not under consideration," Mayo said.”

IMO we should have a very good team next season if they trade the #1 draft pick and sign high end FA’s with all that $.

Interesting point

Who are these younger players?
Wallace didn’t see the field until they had no choice, same with Robinson. Maye is in purgatory.
We trot guys out there like Jordan, Osborne, Hooper, McMillan, Uche, Wilson, Hawkins, brissset, Bourne, Ekuale, etc etc and then a bunch of ps level younger guys who wouldn’t be on a winning roster.

Who exactly are these young players that we sacrificed a season because we wanted to see what could do?

We are a couple of dozen players away from being a very good team and why would you think they will suddenly sign high end free agents?

Your solutions are not consistent with the way the team operates
