This is way premature. Put TT on a team with a QB and a competent OC and WR coaching and the results could be job-destroying for Wolfie. He'd better be certain before making this move.

He has been open several times and he doesn't get the ball. Underthrown deep balls, throwing into double coverage. Put him with Mahomes and watch out.

A team doesn't have six WR involved in the Offense. Five is plenty. This is bad news for Baker, now solidly the #6 WR.

It's bad enough to have 6 WR's on a running team. You want to keep 7.

I don't think that the team is ready to waive Osbourn or to carry 7 WR's for more than a couple of days. Maye has thrown to Thornton in practice for months. Thornton has had some game time, so the team has been able to evaluate his ability to get off the ball, to separate and to run routes.

Bourne, Polk and Douglas are our WR's. In any game, perhaps one more will have significant opportunities. We have Boutte, Baker and Osborn.

The time is now to make the choice with regard to Thornton. In a sense, he'd be long gone if Bourne was ready to play Game One.

This was a line in the movie “A League of Their Own” and I agree that it’s time to cut our losses with Ty Thornton. There is no trade value here so we’ll end up having to cut him loose and move on. Of course, given the luck of some teams, I would expect the Chiefs to pick him up on waivers as a replacement for Rashee Rice and he will go on to average 8 catches per game along with 10 td receptions. *BUT* with us at best we’d still be looking at a “One Catch Wonder”!

Prior to this year, he was paid for 38 games and caught 37 passes, thus the “One Catch Wonder” reference. In truth since he was only healthy to play in 26 games, his average was *almost* 1.4 receptions per game and he had 1 TD catch in those 26 games.

I know it’s early but thus far in 4 games he has a total of 2 receptions for an average of 0.5 receptions per game.

After announcements of “bulking up” prior to training camp the past two years, he’s listed at 6’2” 185 pounds. Lord knows he’s fast, up there with the fastest Patriot receivers evah, but he seems to play closer to 165 rather than 185. I guess you could say for a Second Round pick he’s “not quite pulling his own weight”.

Think it’s too early to make that assessment. But if Maye is a top 5ish franchise QB for several years for the Patriots…then 2024 beats out 2023.
