Greg Bedard: Pats coaching staff already at a troubling crossroads

In retrospect and I'm being honest. We should have used the 8 million given to Brissett on a real LT, kept Zapp, and how we are looking now should have just kept Bill it wouldn't had been a different anyway.
Brissett was given 8 mill. Chunks 4 mill. Osborne 4 mill, Bourne 3/19.5
All pretty much wasted.

The Bourne one was a kick in the gut for me the guy was coming off a ACL and we really rushed to sign him like Teams were lining up Rookie GM syndrome right there.

I didn't mind the KB personally becuase we drafted polk and baker.. I'm now thinking we should have taken the LT with Brissett 8 million kept zapp.

And then signed Osborne and drafted 2 WRs with Douglass and Thornton already here.

AVP is looking absolutely clueless he had success with Jump Ball Joe he should have been our bridge. Yeah Zappe isn't as bad as Brissett behind Center.

We should have spent the Bourne money better or not signed Osborne.
How many WRs would have to fail to need Bourne at 6.5 mill a year?

Douglas
Polk
Thornton
Osborne
Baker
Boute

I bet you any WR we jettison when Bourne gets' activated will look like a world beater elsewhere. I know deep down many of our WR's are saying release me please.

This again. I’ve listed over 70 players that cold have helped this team.

If you want to think Wolf built a great team, be my guest.

There were 530 free agent signings. Feel free to pick the ones you think are best, but if you think the ones we signed were, you are crazy.

If I take out players 30 or older, and defensive players (we didn't know Barmore and Bentley would be gone), because clearly they needed offense, SHOW ME WHO.

Ridley was grossly overpaid, and he's proving that in TN. Glad they missed.
The second ranked WR there is Gabe Davis, who got 3/24 with 13 guaranteed. I mean, come on. he's a JAG.

The second ranked OL, they signed: Mike Onwenu. The other top OL were Guards and a Center, two positions they thought solid, I'm sure.

Throwing a list of FAs out there is a cop-out. Who would have helped?

Imagine if juju does well in KC. He was an alternative to Bourne also as the fallback if everyone sucked.

When we signed JB I couldn't that image out my head of when we played him in 2023.. didn't we pick him off 3x ?

Why would you take out players 30 or older?
Why would you take out defensive players? Our defense has crumbled.

There are dozens of players on that list better than the players we are putting on the field.

Great, you have the 6.3m or whatever to go signa Tackle. Look at Ring 6's list, sort by position. The ONLY tackle there rated higher than Chuks was Nijman, and barely. You can't just say, "they should have signed a LT!" without offering a choice.

Look, I hate this as much as the next guy, but that $30 million CAP boost nailed down the top players to their teams, particularly those at premium positions, like T and WR.

I'll give the FO another year, thanks. They've got a ton of cash, will have another high draft pick (and not needing a QB), and hopefully - hopefully - will know what they have and what they need because the kids are playing. They certainly need blue chip talent and there should be some on the market.

Sounds great!!! Let me ask. Likely we are going to end up being a team picking in the top 5 again.. I've been the most optimistic of posters. However the eye test says they will continue to struggle offensively unless the injury bug bites the starting QBs for the rest of our opponents this season... looking like this they aren't going to be able to sell this version to FA no Matter how much money they offer. Sure lesser tier players will absolutely take the $$$.. unless Drake plays at some point, and does what I expect him to do look like the future of the franchise I just don't see where are growing this season. It's just culmination of so many things that have gone wrong.

Because it's a rebuild and I don't want to spend a lot on guys near the end of their career - there were a couple I would have liked, sure, but I kind of shrug at this point on throwing money at players who won't even be around when it matters in a couple of years.

Because our defense, with a healthy Barmore and Bentley and an offense that didn't lead the universe in 3-and-outs (and a couple of bad turnovers that led to 14 points) looked strong and I don't want to bump promising young'uns for older players. I want Keion White playing.

So show me someone, not in hindsight, who they should have signed on that list. I would have loved Christian Wilkins here, for example, but would it have been worth what he got AND paying Barmore?

So you can't answer my question, because there is no answer. Who's the tackle?

You can’t put a crappy product on the field because you want to play young guys who stink over older guys who can play. Those guys that stink won’t be here either.

You can’t build a defense with 11 guys. Are you seriously telling me that you didn’t want to disrupt having:
Ekuale plating starter snaps when he is a sub rusher at best
Friends U playing starter snaps (we lost both guy and Barmore)
A waiver wire pickup being DT3
McMillan playing starter snaps
Tavai playing every down
Uche playing every down
Jennings playing on passing downs
Hawkins as S3
Wilson playing corner
J Jones having to play outside instead of in the slot
Pettus playing. Or even being on the roster

White was playing no matter who we signed.

Who are the young players you didn’t want upgraded?

There are dozens of players in that list better than players we are putting on the field. Players at all levels from good players to average players to role players to backups. Pick the ones you like. This isn’t about which ones you like best it’s about the fact that we rostered bad players and shouldn’t have had to

So you can't answer my question, because there is no answer. Who's the tackle?
I just asked you valid questions that you seemingly ignored. Last time I checked don't the Jets have a veteran tackle? Wasn't he a available FA? So are you going to ignore what I asked you?

Breer said today that Polk is ranked #3 in the league for getting open ... ouch Jacoby.

The Redskins signed 3 FA OL starters including a LT. That seems to have gone well for them.
Ironically people here thought Trent Brown didn’t care about football so they rejoiced at signing Chunks who quit after 12 plays.

I was tooting the Resign Trent Mount Brown horn and got tarred and feathered by the experts here.
