Nice to see him coming along. Thoughts?

This is one of those "management" games. Neither team can do anything in the air, so it comes down to defensive talent and RB's. We have the best of both, so we're winning. Pretty simple.

Im loving every minute of it. This is the sort of running game Ive been waiting to see all season. In my opinion, it is crucial to have a good ground attack late in the season, so its good to have Laurence running well.

maroney did a great job.... it's only a matter of time before he breaks a long one. he went forward on pretty much every carry i saw picking up a solid 3, 4, 5 each carry

Maroney and BB hugging as time runs out and walking out onto the field together.

I'm really happy for LoMo,........he seems like such a good guy....and a true "patriot"........I do think that eventually he will play a bigger role for us.....I know alot of people are already saying "well he was running against a soft Jests run defense" but I could care less.........GO LoMo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO PATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was great, but again, I'd like to see them get him outside more as I suggested in a recent thread. They only ran one play designed to the outside and it gained 8 yards.

On a day when the Jets could antipate more running due to the conditions, Maroney played a great game. As anticipated by the more rational people on this board, he was just fine when he finally got the call.

The detractors who would point to the Jets run defense are the same people who think Sammy Morris is the greatest running back this team has ever seen, despite his successes coming against two very porous run defenses. They have an agenda and let's not try to get in the way of it.

YAY! Four digits!

Maroney did a good job today. I did notice two things.

1) Maroney got the ball at full speed, then put a hitch into his step right before he got to the line on several occasions. This caused him to lose momentum.

2) He needs to work on NOT piling into the scrums. There were 3 runs that if he had bounced outside, he'd have picked up HUGE yardage. Now, the Pats could have him on a bit of a leash, having him only hit the holes they've specified. Or he could just not be seeing it because he's so focused on where he's supposed to be going.

Both things are correctable. Both things will make him a better player over time. They are things that ALL RBs have to learn.

One thing to keep in mind that Maroney mentioned in his post-game quote:
http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/

He said that due to the weather conditions he avoided cutbacks. I think he could benefit from watching films of how successful he can be while keeping more of a straight ahead style instead of waiting for the hole to develop.

I'd like to see him keep the same downhill demeanor in dry weather. :rocker:

Maroney had an excellent game, as did his run blocking. Kudos to the OLine.

I think BB tends to save his RBs until the December & January time frame. I recall Antoine Smith taking the first half of the season off, and being "fresh" enough to make the difference in the late season and playoffs.

Antoine was "ordinary". Lawrence is more than ordinary. I like where we are!

I wonder how many posters realize this was Maroney's fourth game of the season with over 100 yards of offense.

Week three he rushed for 103 yards against Buffalo.
Week 8 he rushed for 75 yards, while adding 37 receiving yards for 112 total.
Week 13 Maroney put up 79 receiving yards, and 44 rushing yards for 123 total.
and this week (15) he puts up 104 yards rushing.

He hasn't sucked all year, and just suddenly shown up. Yes, he's had some down weeks, and he's left some yards on the field, but he hasn't been the huge dissapointment some on here believe. the guy is still learning, and he's still very young (only 22), so I've got a lot of confidence that he'll continue to improve. Maroney's also been a huge part of NE's offense in two of their tougher games of the season, and he's been showing signs of improvement as a blocker in Pass Pro.

Maroney seems to love getting 20+ carries. I can see him getting stronger, and getting 20+ carries against the Dolphins and Giants too. He will break off some big runs sooner or later. He will probably equal top last years production, and I expect him to be a 1000 yard runner next year.

Im glad they've used him sparingly....he will get plenty of handles now. Score quick and he'll bleed out the clock.

I'm sure plenty still think he is made of glass and a bust. One performance doesn't establish a good/great season but this certainly doesn't hurt his perception. Hopefully these types of performances continue given he is afforded the opportunity. While many have been down on LoMo I think his (lack of) production has had more to do with a lack of opportunities. I didn't get to watch the game today (I live in Missouri) but it sounds like he did well and maybe now we can quell some of the McFadden talk and all the LoMo bashing.

He looked good. Everybody around me went hysterical when he'd break through. Nice to see him finally making strides.
