Yes! I believe Drake has gotten better and better each day. If he wasn't ready to play the team would have kept zap and put Milton on the PS and shelved maye. I'll go ahead and say it... he's going to be the 2nd best QB In Patriots history

Yes, sitting Maye for a grooming job will appease all those who thought Mac Jones was done wrong. But, he's not Jordan Love, or Bret Favre. They had talent ahead of them. And Peyton Manning still holds the all time worst rookie QB season. So if Drake has talent he will overcome some bumps in the road. Once I saw Brisste take a sack on 3rd down in FG range. I became a let's play Maye supporter.

No matter who drafted Maye, it was expected that they would have to sit him and let him develop. Maye came into the league an unfinished product. He has a mechanical issues. He played for a poor offense in a weaker conference which makes it harder to transfer to the talent of the NFL. He is not ready to start.

You talk about Manning, but Manning came from a more pro style offense (at the time) and had near perfect form (for a draft prospect) and was NFL ready. He was considered a generational talent coming out of college. And he still struggled.

Jordan Love is a better comp for Maye since Love also had work to do on his game more than a typical first round draft pick. Love sat because of Rodgers, but that doesn't mean he didn't become a far better QB for sitting for several years.

If Maye was as NFL ready as Mac Jones, I would have been for him starting the season as the starter even with this awful o-line. But he isn't. The coaching staff failed Jones, not because they started him right away, but they surround him with garbage from the coaching staff to the players.

IMO November is a good time to put in Maye if Jacoby continues to play the same or gets injured.

Correct. Mayo already publicly admitted Maye was "performing better" than JB - in preseason. That doesn't mean he's more ready to handle all that JB can handle in the mental department of a regular season. But it could mean that when they start to stack losses due to lack of offensive dynamics, Maye could be closer to playing than most anticipated.
I don't buy at all that JB is running for his life and that's why he can't see WR's getting open. He just doesn't anticipate that well. And Maye was already seeing and anticipating guys breaking open pretty well in preseason.
ANY amount of passing threat added to this very capable run game will only improve both areas - which improves scoring potential.

I was 100% out on Young his entire draft year, as I was on Z. Wilson, Manziel, and a host of others.

Two weeks ago when everyone assumed we were going to totally suck in all phases no matter who was at QB, it was easy to say "sit Maye for x games". But seeing as we should be 2-0 against 2 pretty good teams, this season doesn't look like it has to be a dumpster fire. That perspective changes the equation, and I'd like to see Maye in there on Thursday against the Jets. Mayo can couch it in terms like "we're going to give Drake some snaps", so that if it doesn't look good he can go back.

The Jets aren't as good as Seattle, we can beat them. SF is a loss most likely, but the Vikes just kicked their ass. Miami is a little messed up right now. I am very concerned about our QB facing Houston after what Caleb Williams endured last night, though.

You may as well say them now, because it's not going to change.
It's not going to change regardless of the quarterback.
Unless they swing multiple trades for NFL-caliber tackles, this is how it's going to go all season long.

Wozzy said it perfectly in another thread. If this team had 2 starting-level offensive tackles, they'd be a playoff team. Instead, they have two guards, and one who can't pass block.

Also there's a MASSIVE difference between the line run blocking and pass blocking. Regardless of quality of the QB, the issues come up when we need the QB to make plays without a safety net... well the problem is that once you are in that position, you put the offense in their absolute weakest position which in turn effects the QB negatively and leads to the sacks and the opposing defense having success.

So yeah, Maye has the better tools to succeed in that position, BUT it doesn't change that it's a losing position for this team anyways. Maye is going to face the same rush and line failure and the same WR's not getting open and unlike Brissett, Maye is adjusting to NFL speed and working on fundemental development. This isn't about success vs no success. It's about who do you want in a bad position that is unteneable anyways. If the difference is "Maye looks a bit better when he's still going to mostly come up short and be let down by the circumstance anyways" then the reward just isn't there and the discussion becomes less about shortterm vs longterm. Is Maye better longterm or shorterm developing in game or in practice. Some people think they know for sure what the answer is, but they also don't know what Maye is like in practice and what the coaches think he needs to work on.

Not targeting Douglas even once, is a crime. What was that end around? Was it Osborne, looked like it was run in slow motion.

The OL is holding up pretty well under 2.5 seconds, but not longer than that. Unfortunately, Brissett takes 2.89 seconds to throw the ball which is glacially slow. This is where Drake Maye changes the equation significantly - he will read the field faster and get the ball out faster before pressure happens. Will he always make the right read? No. Will he make a few mistakes that lead to picks? Yes. But on average they'll generate a lot more offense.

It was polk i believe. I do think we should do more end arounds, anything to get the ball in the wr’s hands but id rather see Thornton or Douglas on those. I remember each had a pretty big one last year.
