Austin will likely solidify that 2nd outside CB if Marco can't take a strong hold of it.

I’m not sure that “solidify” is the word I would use there…

Austin is a #6 (2nd backup Outside CB) on a contender; he won’t kill you, but he’s also easily replaceable.

Yeah I know. I've come to the reality that he's a nice depth option to have. He's young his NFL career is still growing. Is bolden on the practice squad?

I have Austin as #5. Dial shouldn't even be counted as a CB; he likely will be a STO player.

But, yes, he is easily replaceable. After all, we have Bolden on the Practice Squad.

We have a nice stash of 6 FT CBs most teams don't have 1. All these guys can play. Even dial is 6ft. It's worth it to keep these guys around they are all on rookie deals and costing the team nothing really. I was also a proponent of trading for jhaire Alexander in GB to pair with gonzo previously.

Austin will eventually get some reps. He is our #8 DB and should always be active. BTW, we have only 8 DB's plus 3 STers (Schooler, Pettus and Dial). If Austin isn't getting any reps, that's OK. That would mean that everyone else is healthy and playing reasonably well.

Yes, Austin’s #5 for us (Gonzo, JJones, MJones, Wilson) currently, but if we had a Legit #2 then Jonathan could return to the Slot (still his best position IMO) and Austin to the #6 role, with Marcus as #1 backup Slot (aka #5) & primary Returner… But if Jonathan stays Outside then we need a backup to Marcus.

I would note that 2 of our 3 starters are 5' 8" and 5' 9".

Yes, we would be better off with a backup slot guy instead of Austin.

I suspect that we expect Austin to improve and play more in 2025. After all, Jon Jones and Marco Wilson are both UFA's. Austin is an RFA, so we will very likely keep him.
