Mondre was juking guys 2 at a time.. fun game to watch, happy with the direction of this franchise. Solid win
"...happy with the direction of this franchise...". Couldn't have said it better.
- we have our future franchise QB, and have a solid interim QB, both thanks to Wolf
- we have terrific coaches - HC, OC, DC, ST, OL
- we re-upped all the key guys of a terrific defense, the bedrock of this team. Hope we can see Barmore later this year.
- love our 2 TE's that Wolf signed & re-signed
- we have horses on the OL, and they punished Cinci yesterday. Critics were way out of line there, we're gonna be ok
- Rham's a top back that Wolf re-upped, but need someone to step up and take more snaps (Harris).
- WR's will be ok even without a #1; they'll be featured more against Seattle

I would like to see Gibson more in the passing game, screens, wheels.
He’s not a guy we can run between the tackles like Rhamondre.
Not saying he’s frail but he’s not pushing the pile.

Gibson is not rham but hes pretty underrated between the tackles imo. Saw some really nice runs from him early in the commanders game. Hes a legit dual threat

I think Bortles was much more of a gunslinger QB than a game manager. And was much more prolific in the passing game in his career than Brissett ever was.

The game is also not the same now compare to 2017
Bortles was a TO machine a nice arm but turned the ball over alot. He was reeled in and asked to manage the game. I see he and Brissett as the same kind of QB.. game manager. That 2017 year the jags were a force to be reckoned with. Led off thier ground game by fornette. Everything offensively derived off the run. Mirror images to our team. They won alot of games 20-14 and 22- 13. 2017-2018 compared to 2024... I guess you could argue some slight differences however for example the Chiefs with Mahomes were a high flying offensive team & the jags were basically us. Both won games that season.

Also am I the only one concerned that Baker and Mayo are going to clash leading to a trade or release?

Given how all of the other players talk about Mayo (positively), if a rookie WR clashes that much with him this early in his career, I'm not sure releasing him should be a concern. Disappointing in that it's a waste of a 4th rounder, but he's not good enough to put up with that kind of crap. That said, I think it's WAY too early to be thinking there's something irreparable going on with him. He's young and stupid. Let's see how he responds.

Couple small gripes, rather see Gibson with a few more touches and rham not carrying 25x a game. Obviously you want the ball in rhams hands often but gotta think long term too with his usage. Even hasty should get some carries here and there.
I agree that Stevenson had too many carries. And I also think Gibson had too many as well (fwiw James White averaged about 2-4 carries a game). Would prefer Stevenson with 15-20, change 4 of the 7 Gibson runs to passes to him (screens for example) and activate Harris or Jennings to get about 5-10 carries.

I wonder how many games we lost last season because our field goal/xp kicker sucked. Nice to have one that doesn't suck now.

Special teams in general contributed to quite a few losses. Its hard to say how many specifically because there were other big mistakes made but id venture to say solid special teams would’ve added maybe 2 wins each of the past 3 years . Which would have been really big in 21 and 22 when the team was actually decent.

I know brother. Judon looked washed in ATL yesterday.. I have a cousin lives in ATL.. he was watching the game. He said cousins looked like an old man too.

Cousins was absolute trash. Falcons may have won that game with whatever crap qb they had last year if they wouldnt have turned it over so much.

I didnt get to see much of judon though did he fall off?

So, it’s basically the same team as last season, same personnel, same type of game, low scoring, slow tempo … the difference being that the team wasn’t saddled by Mac freakin’ Jones and instead of eeking out a loss, they came out on the winning end (largely because Mac wasn’t here to turn the ball over half a dozen times).

I’m going to feel rather bitter if Belichick was ****-canned without being given an opportunity to coach a full season without Mac Jones, and if the team that he built goes on to have success with a different QB.

And to be clear, a large part of that bitterness is rooted in the fact that Kraft unconditionally supported Jones and forced Belichick to go down with him. If BB died on the Jones’ hill by himself, fair play to oust him, but BB didn’t die on that hill; the owner put him in an impossible situation where BB was forced to ride out Jones at Kraft’s request, but in the process of appeasing the owner, hammered a nail in his own coffin. Yuck.

All my personal griping aside, congrats to the team for an impressive win. The same core guys who contributed today have been here for awhile; the team simply needed QB play that wasn’t atrocious in order to win.
Belicheck lost with Bledsoe, lost with Cam, went to the playoffs with Mac, lost with Mac and lost with Zappe.

Stop scapegoating Belichick. He isnt on the Patriots anymore and his name doesnt belong in these threads anymore.

I didn't personally a relative that lives in Atlanta he was telling me judon looked gassed, wasn't getting off blocks.

Thats definitely not a good sign, even in his great years stamina was an issue with him and he disappeared down the stretch. Maybe the fo was right to trade him? I personally didn’t like the trade especially with barmore possibly out all year. Depth as dt/de may be a concern, these guys have alot on their plates and may wear down eventually… there will be injuries too. But hopefully ximines/ekuale/pharms/etc will be up to the task

I wonder if he is released once Thomas or Jones get going.
I don't think Chukwuma Okorafor will be here after next week. Mayo is learning fast know which players you can trust love the usage and benching.

To be fair, I don't think they knew about Barmore's situation at the time they made the trade. They probably make it anyway, but I think there might have been more hesitation. The blood clots showed up pretty shortly after that trade, if I'm remembering correctly.

Agree mostly i would like to see another rb active and getting carries if they are not wanting to let hasty run the ball. Im ok with Gibson getting 10 carries or so, i don’t think hes gonna get a ton of targets in the passing game so he could play the woodhead role imo where hes getting steady carries too, hes def built for it. Guy is bigger than i realized

If Lowe can stay healthy, they will probably try him a RT where he played better in TC before benching or cutting him.

I think we will probably saw the following line against SEA:

Lowe - Jordan - Andrews - Onwenu - Okorafor
Seeing V Lowe play was a sigh of relief over C Okorafor never thought I would say that.

It was a nice win in the sense that I thought the D looked very good.

BUT you cannot win in the nfl that way. They ran the ball 62% of the time, passed for less than 150 yards, and only scored 16 points. Everything went right and we all know that's not going to happen every week.

Polk- 1 catch for 6 yards. It's still early but that's a very poor performance for their 2nd round draft pick.

edit to add: Sly was a bright spot; I think we are set at punter and kicker for years to come.
Mostly agree with this.

2 counter points. On that late FG drive under different circumstances they could have been more aggressive but getting a 2 score lead back was more important.

Based on how dominant that last drive was to run out the clock that's as good as any scoring drive.

It was after, barmore was diagnosed in late July and judon was traded in mid August. I don’t think it would’ve factored into the decision though, i just think i had a slight more emphasis on this season than the fo had. Though i do agree with the overall approach and not opening up the checkbook yet, thought there some smaller things we could have done to try to be more competitive this year. But as much as i love judon id love if im proven wrong!

Love when Mayo kicked the other guy to the curb a Team like ours can't have a shaky kicker like Wide-Left. Kudos to Mr Joey Style.

Yes I agree. But you need the lead to have a drive like that; and most of the time if you use that game plan you won’t have the lead at the end.

That being said, the team showed great enthusiasm; and just because this is how they played yesterday it doesn’t mean they can’t grow over the season.
