So, it’s basically the same team as last season, same personnel, same type of game, low scoring, slow tempo … the difference being that the team wasn’t saddled by Mac freakin’ Jones and instead of eeking out a loss, they came out on the winning end (largely because Mac wasn’t here to turn the ball over half a dozen times).

I’m going to feel rather bitter if Belichick was ****-canned without being given an opportunity to coach a full season without Mac Jones, and if the team that he built goes on to have success with a different QB.

And to be clear, a large part of that bitterness is rooted in the fact that Kraft unconditionally supported Jones and forced Belichick to go down with him. If BB died on the Jones’ hill by himself, fair play to oust him, but BB didn’t die on that hill; the owner put him in an impossible situation where BB was forced to ride out Jones at Kraft’s request, but in the process of appeasing the owner, hammered a nail in his own coffin. Yuck.

All my personal griping aside, congrats to the team for an impressive win. The same core guys who contributed today have been here for awhile; the team simply needed QB play that wasn’t atrocious in order to win.

Brissett gutted a few significant runs and avoided a turnover which Mac would have crapped all over himself.

On top of top notch special teams which was a result of getting rid of Achord.

Lol, if making the pick in 15 seconds is hesitating, then I'd like to see not hesitant.

So you're saying I was wrong that he put together content that showed Kraft Brady was or would decline. Sounds like you're splitting hairs there. Either way, he wanted Brady out with his too early than too late philosophy and that backfired on him. Big time.

Also, can you show me who was saying the team didn't quit on him? Because I watched a team that just fell apart and didn't play with the same level of commitment or discipline the last year. How many times did they make uncharacteristic mistakes or plays that showed complete lack of discipline? It was way more than usual. That sounds like a coach that has lost the locker room to me.

Also, is the part about screwing the pooch on offensive picks, especially around WR wrong too? Because that seems consensus to me.
You're making things up.

He didnt show anything saying Brady was on the decline. He showed Kraft a study showing how 37 year old QBs deteriorate. These are 2 entirely different things.

Did you watch last year? Even the Belichick haters constantly made the point that the team was fighting hard and didn't quit.

I didn't say anything about WR picks because one of them was a bust (Harry), the other looks very good (Douglas) and a guy that maybe was a bust is maybe finally showing his value (like he did today).

I kept wondering if Polk was playing.
Same here. I'd expect a change next week polk should be starting.. I know AVP is trying to bring him in slowly...

NYG will go QB. Wouldn’t shock me if Carolina does as well if Young struggles this year. I don’t think we’ll have an issue getting a LT.
Hard part will be if a sure-fire blue chipper at another position drops to them.

There is not projected to be a sure fire LT in this draft. Kid from LSU was closest but he did not impress me vs USC.

Pierce, Hunter, Mcmillan, Graham, and Morrison all seem more likely to be franchise players than any of the top LT’s.

Trade back?

He did get in a little bit, I was more surprised there was no Boutte. I don't think he got a snap today.
Yes, agreed. I know the focal point was running the ball. But ideally we need to see more from the passing game.. Polk, pop , Thornton should be the starters.

Agree... Lowe was still a problem.. the run game took the pressure of the line.. I'd like to see more from the passing attack next week.
Lowe was basically doing what was expected of him, rerouting the rusher downfield and refusing to give up the inside. It lead to speed rushes from the edge, but they never got there in time. They rushed Jacoby, but didn't break him.

I will say Jacoby isn't great at seeing his blind side, because he had Rham wide open in the flat for a huge gain and instead he threw an out to the other side that wasn't accurate.

The number is sick too. #99 is a badass jersey
One of the guys I go to games with has been thinking about who’s jersey to purchase because he had a Mac Jones jersey, after the game I told him # 99 is the way to go.

I mean he did throw an awful back foot pass that was picked and without Henry awareness would have turn the game in a typical BB - Mac Jones game last year

We did dodge a few bullets. The play you mentioned and Rham’s fumble luckily didn’t get away from him. Not every game will have this level of fortune so we’ll need more out the passing game to be able to win consistently

It wasn't a compaint. It was a observational fact.
Nice try. Your post was speculative born from displeasure.

You want them to have the number 1 pick.

Don't worry....They can lose their next 16 games.

Welcome back Special Teams! We've missed you so, and you did it without taking up three extra ST players on the roster.

Great punts, Schooler was a star and a fumble caused by a long-snapper. Reliable kicking. And no stupid penalties (except for the first play of the game).
