Polk instead Kingsley Suamataia?

Are my eyes playing tricks with me, or is rookie second round draft pick Kingsley Suamataia starting at Left Tackle for the Chiefs???? The Patriots could have taken him in round but took a possession WR in Polk instead. What was Patriots HQ thinking? Didn't they see the need for a LT? I can see where the Patriots might have chosen Polk over Adonai Mitchell, but it seems like a major whiff to pass on Suamataia. Not only did the Chiefs get Suamataia, but they also got the speedster Worthy. The rich get richer and the Patriots make pathetic personnel decisions.
everything is simple with the benefit of hindsight

I think the piece if the puzzle that’s alluding you is that when they put together a terrible roster “they got the guys they liked” is more a condemnation than an excuse.
Just throwing this out there, but maybe your ability to scout for the AVP system is not as good as you may think. Because you would have done something different doesn't mean what they did is wrong. It's not necessarily a zero sum game, you both can be right or wrong.

Anyone suggesting a healthy Tyron Smith wouldn't beat out our scrubs shows a complete break with reality.

Anyone here suggesting there's such a thing as a healthy Tyron Smith? 'Cause that would be someone living in an alternate reality. Smith hasn't played a full season since 2015. In the past 4 years he's only played 30 of 77 regular season games. Smith is a hella player when he can play but with 14 years of tread off the tires and an inability to stay on the field, at best he's a complimentary piece not a foundational one. And a fingers crossed every time he trots out there piece at that.

First Mitchell and now Suamataia. Are you satiated now or should we expect more premature “Why didn’t we draft (insert player here) instead of Polk” whining?

They are *under* the floor requirement on average for this cycle. So they're going to *have* to overpay the next couple of years, just to make the floor.
Yes ... by design. They will NEED to spend, and also WANT to spend, because their QB will be ready and playing then and they'll want to maximize support for him.

It's also a 3 year period, and this is only year 1. So there's no urgency at this point.

I agree, by design. Although I think what the two designs we're imagining are vastly different. When they're overpaying for fringe NFL players so they can hit 90% of the cap floor in 2026, we can revisit this.

They should have started earlier as this years tackle market goes to show you can't always get what you want. I'd rather have brought in more talent a year too early than a year too late. That said this was just a weak free agent class all around.

100%. If that is what happens in 2026 I will eat crow, feel free to remind me.

I think their attempts to throw money at Ridley and then Aiyuk showed that they're willing to spend big if they think the talent is commensurate with the cost, but they're not going to give a bloated deal out just to patch a hole. They could've signed Jonah Williams just to say they "tried" but in reality he wouldn't really be meaningfully better than what they already have and would've cost a lot more. At this point in time I am pleased with Wolf's economic approach. We will see how it looks after a couple more years.

The OL we have is not good for any system.

If we liked McConkey better than Polk i'd assume we would have taken him.
I agree

Also, for the minor trade down, we were able to move into the 4th and draft Baker.

As already stated above, everyone on that list would beat out our terrible tackles. The notion that there was one tackle in free agency better than Okorafor and Lowe is absurd.

Also as already laid out above, the phrase "a healthy Tyron Smith" is an oxymoron. Which is the only point I was making.

Would you rather have a worn down engine you know works when healthy or a brand new shiny one that doesn’t work at all?

I didn’t want Smith, but there were multiple under 30 options better than Okorafor and Lowe.

for the 3rd time (maybe you’ll answer this time?) who are you talking about?

Weren't you beating the drum for Jonah Williams? He and Chuks are equally ****, I agree that our OT's are not good and stand by my opinion that there were not many upgrades at OT.

He is gonna hit ya with Oli Udoh, Yosh Nijman and Andrus Peat. He just prefers that **** to the **** currently on the roster. He speaks as though his opinion is fact.

I don’t best drums.

It’s the job of the front office to improve weaknesses. We have many draft choices and $100,000,000. We used those resources poorly. Our season will determine whether I am right. Many of those who argue we used those resources well are expecting 3-4 wins.

Polk is better. Right call.
