Polk instead Kingsley Suamataia?

No, no. I was saying that instead of picking Polk, the Patriots should have taken Suamataiaa. It would be insane to take Polk and then try to trade back up into the second to get Suamatai I guess the draftniks would be screaming "Reach", but as it seems now, it would have been a much better pick. Polk is just another possession receiver, and would have been a fine fourth round selection, but Suamataia at LT was a glaring need and a huge whiff by the Patriots "Braintrust". It was as if the Kraft were telling Wolf that we HAVE to take a WR, any WR in round two.

I only watched the first half but Suamataia had a good game.

Holding call, sack allowed, some hurries. Typical rookie first game.

Who cares if you're a "homer"? Homer is just an insult other sports media people use on other sports media people. If you're a fan of the team, you're expected to be one. In fact, if you aren't, you're not a fan of the team, by definition.
A fan has an emotional attachment to the team. By that guideline, you could be a fan with a negative perspective. More to your point, why bother being a fan of a team if you aren't a homer?

Is this where we are now? After one game. Not one week of games. One game played in the entire NFL and we are declaring draft picks are already proven to be a mistake and the wrong player picked. Let's see what happens say for the next year or two before we start labeling people awful picks.

And I don't get why people dismiss possession WRs. They aren't as flashy as the X, but there are plenty Pro Bowl, All Pro and even HOF worthy possession WRs in NFL history. I mean Julian Edelman was a possession WR. If Polk turns into a player as good as Edelman, he was an excellent pick.

I would have preferred the Pats draft a LT in the draft. Maybe maybe or maybe not with the Polk pick. But I am not going to kill the Pats for selecting the wrong player before any Patriots player plays a single down of football since the draft.

Yeah, his definition seems pretty slippery.

Are my eyes playing tricks with me, or is rookie second round draft pick Kingsley Suamataia starting at Left Tackle for the Chiefs???? The Patriots could have taken him in round but took a possession WR in Polk instead. What was Patriots HQ thinking? Didn't they see the need for a LT? I can see where the Patriots might have chosen Polk over Adonai Mitchell, but it seems like a major whiff to pass on Suamataia. Not only did the Chiefs get Suamataia, but they also got the speedster Worthy. The rich get richer and the Patriots make pathetic personnel decisions.
I know, Polk has done NOTHING this year! Zero catches! What a bum

A time honored tradition. I think we should have a sub forum for it. The quiet assumption of course is that only the Pats miss on picking better players. If this Suma kid becomes a good starting NFL left tackle, then he's worthy of a top half first round pick, and 30 teams made the same "error."

We needed WRs too Polk will be good after this season we'll all be happy.

They were locked into a WR in the second round (and a bunch of tackles had gone at the end of the first so maybe they didn’t think the value was there). I also think they thought they had taken care of LT for the short term with Chuks.

What are the Highest paid positions in Football QB - WR and OT's. Gotta get em one at a time the better Teams have all three.

I completely disagree. We took Polk and then Mitchell was the only other WR taken in the 2nd. There were still several OTs on the board who all went late in the 2nd Rd. The insane part was not identifying the one we liked the most and investing in a trade to make sure we got one that could actually play on the left. Or even if we thought Wallace was the best of that group any of the other teams could of grabbed him instead of the tackle they took. It would not have cost a lot of trade capital to move ten to 15 spots for a better shot at filling both needs.

I suppose we still should have taken the tackle before the WR just because it's a more important position but we could have/should have had both.

IF C Wallace is Starting at either Tackle Positions at the end of the year we did alright there.

Sniffing around for something to be upset about.
You don’t have to sniff hard to smell the stink of our OL.
Despite the apologists saying there was absolutely no possibility of getting a LT that doesn’t rot, one appears on opening night that was there for the taking.

I think the issue is that the prevailing logic on this board is that our QBOTF isn’t allowed to play because of the OL and the guy that chiefs drafted is good enough for the SB champs to not be afraid to play their franchise

A lot of assumptions buried in that "logic" that are unknowable. And, even if true, it isn't apples to apples, in that having the Chiefs offense and QB with a rookie LT is an entirely different proposition than what the Pats have around that LT position.

That's his point

Our roster is so bare bones, there going to be a lot of players who could make an impact for us, specially on offense.

Creating a thread and being mad about these events is completely useless.

So is 98% of what's posted here including my response. The thread is fine, his emotional diatribe is over-the-top. But he's testing it out here to see if it will play on radio.

Two... Roger Rosengarten was starting for the Ravens. The Ravens and Chiefs were ranked #1 and #2 in the entire NFL in sacks last year. Both rookie tackles gave up one sack, but otherwise played great.

The notion that there were no tackles worth taking past the first round but Polk was apparently a first round talent is total horsesht.

There are new regime apologists who will be telling us for the next five years that we have to wait a little longer to be good.

"Wait until next year," the perennial loser's lament.

It’s not my logic.
Of course it’s different, but wouldn’t that mean the chiefs have significantly greater risk?
We failed to adequately address the OL. In the first game we see a team that did.
Can we agree having a competent OL is as ir more important than anything?

Isn’t the point that it didn’t have to be this way? Or are we just giving the front office a pass?
