Apologies if this has been posted already but there is a good video on Youtube with Alex Barth and Mike Petraglia (CLNS Cincy) reviewing the Pats v Bengals game.

When he signed the second time, he signed for right tackle money, when there was still a big disparity in the league between left and right tackle money (There still is, but to a lesser degree). Then Belichick flipped him to left tackle, and he was pissed. Bill tried to make it up to him with pay bumps, but the damage was already done.

This is pretty well documented, although I'm not surprised it got memory-holed by most.
Where?

Sidy Sow out is a killer, IMO the second-best lineman behind Onwenu and an improving player.
I'd like to be hopeful but without the best starting 5 the line isn't good enough and the Bengals have playmakers in Higgins and Chase.
I have no idea how the defense will get pressure without Barmore. Without Maye you lose your 1 playmaker on offense.
The possibility the Bengals look out of sorts on offense with Chase hardly practicing and Burrow off a serious injury is definitely possible.
Rhamondre somehow needs to have a big game, control the clock, no turnovers, defense gets a turnover or 2 and they could be in it.

Best offense usually wins, enough said.
All that said I am Excited for football!

1) Is Robinson more ready to have a major role than Wallace. (I think that the answer is yes).
2) Is Okorafor's transition working out well enough for him to be the best option at LT (I vote no)

BOTTOM LINE
A) We might have made different choices in free agency and the draft (long, long ago0
B) We don't know what the staff has learned in camp and the pre-season. We won't know until Lowe is healthy.
C) For now, it seems that Leverett is starting as the 3rd string LG with both Strange and Sow injured.
This is what I'm responding to...
We are counting on backups to be our OL anchors. That in itself is a bad thing.
Okra is another teams cast-off, and he is our saving hope here??
Lowe was a disaster last year, and supposedly the answer as a "vet LT" with a rookie QB??
Leverett has been bad all camp - yet the top backup IOL - who is going to start week 1??
Robinson may have a great future ahead, but he was destroyed by a 2nd/3rd WAS DL.

This is not the way to start a season. Still, I think the goal should be this as soon as possible:
(the healthier & best player winning the battles)
Lowe/Jacobs - Sow/Strange - Andrews - Onwenu - Okra/Wallace

V Lowe was back practicing yesterday he should be a go on Sunday. Can't wait to see the Hollywood shuffle along the OL.

Im not a big fan of Lowe but if he plays i think thats pretty key. It would keep chuks at rt where hes more comfortable and onwenu at rg where he is much more effective. The domino effect when lowe went out was what led to that disastrous 3rd preseason game. The first 2 games i felt they held up decent in pass protection aside from a couple breakdowns. Run blocking is still a concern to me either way because i didn’t see too many lanes even when the line was overall passable. But hopefully at least our qbs wont be getting drilled constantly.

Sow out would hurt but if lowe plays everyone is back where they should be playing. Hopefully leverett or robinson can man up for the time being!

yes, that used to be us; now it is KC
I just think that it's more pronounced for KC. They have three very weak teams to contend with and those Pats only had two and sometimes only one.

Brissett is a rookie?
That's obviously not what I meant.
Point is, they went into this year with a 3rd overall pick at QB and a VERY mediocre journeyman with the understanding that Maye will be playing at some point this season.
And with that - they had a bunch of re-treads and backups at both Tackle positions.
(and no, I'm not calling Onwenu a RT - he was planned to stick at RG - his best and natural position)

After the Mac Jones debacle, I think they're going to be very gun shy about playing Maye. I think the best case plan is that Jacoby plays the whole season and then Maye plays next year. But what will likely happen is that Jacoby gets his head taken off in a game due to their bad OL and they're forced to play Maye.

Gee I hope not.

This being a new regime, either Brown or the team could have reached out. We had the money and incentive to pay him more than he was able to get elsewhere. Of course, it would have taken both parties to be interested in order for this to work.
I don't think brown was wanted back. There were concerns about his attitude and work ethic. As you said new regime. The team likely wanted guys to remain here for the rebuild with better attitudes.

At this point the line is what it is. The 5 men are going to have to develop cohesion and do the best they can. We know the tackles are the weak links. The TE will likely block along with the back..
