To expect players to have that amount of time in this industry is insane.

The percentage of playerss that last that long is infinitesimally small.

And to make matters worse, the minute amount of players that do play for ten years shouldn't need any financial help - while a running back that was tackled thousands of time in his four years in the league before being forced to retire due to injuries could truly use those benefits.

That's a bad reflection on both the owners as well as the NFLPA.

Looking at the details, it sounds like Goodell and the Crew of 32 are looking to generate yet another revenue stream.

Specifically, they want a cut of the profit when a private equity firm eventually cashes out.

So basically the owners reap a financial benefit when the private equity firm buys in, and then also make a profit when that firms sell.

What a racket. Mob bosses are jealous.

Agreed.

It is a matter of distribution of the negotiated monies.

Yes, RB's get screwed.

Every contract, pensions are negotiated.

Retirement at 5 years makes little sense. That it basically the first contract plus one year. Obviously, it is important for players to save a large portion of their first contract, since so many go no further.

Zappe signing with KC’s practice squad.

I remember when some thought the Pats should trade #3 for Fields. Good times.
