Training camp/cuts news from around the league

Their career ratings are close but I like White’s arm over Zappe’s who has one of the weakest in the league. People talk up Zappe’s first 2 games of his career but White looked really good too in fact he threw for over 400 yards in a game once. Zappe has never sniffed anything close to that. You’re right that neither are starters.

He did go over 300 yards against Cleveland in 2022:

Although I agree with you on White, he's definitely got a better arm. But Zappe's a smart player and a good backup. It will definitely be interesting to see where he ends up if these next few days end up being his last here in New England.

I think Zappe’s yardage that game was padded a bit by Jonnu getting 40 YAC on one play or something like that. But yeah it will be interesting. Not sure how the team feels about him or Milton’s potential.

Rivers out in Indy. I wondered what happened to this BB draft whiff.

@Ian does it make sense to start a new thread now that cutdown day is coming up? This one is already at 37 pages. Around 30-35 cuts coming for every team in the next 1-2 days, so there’ll be a lot to chatter about. Or just let this one roll? Open to discussion.

I’d say let it run until cuts and then I figured it would make sense to close it, and then have a general NFL news thread from there, with “OT” threads for any major news.

Does that make sense?

Actually, looking at it again, I agree, I think it makes sense to do an actual NFL Roster cuts thread and close this out after tonight.

Makes sense, throwing up two roster cuts threads after the game tonight seems like it would work well. 1 thread for Patriots-specific cuts and 1 for general NFL cuts that are notable somehow.

Detroit. All eyes will be on them during cut downs, especially with their OL. I already mentioned an undrafted rookie center who shows he belongs. Kingsley Eguakun. But there’s another interior guy they will likely have to regretfully part with. Michael Niese.

Take a look at the athleticism. Ideal for the outside zone.

Sure is nice having the 3rd spot in waiver priority I would actually not be surprised if the Pats cut down to 52 or 51 players to keep a couple open spots for waiver claims.

Spencer Rattler fever has definitely taken root among Saints fans. Impressive throw, even against guys going to be cut with a vanilla defense.

Elite QB arm talent in the sixth fifth round? Never heard of such a thing!

My third 4th QB on the board.

Our old friend Byrd out in Buffalo

Deion Jones is a surprise…

I Don't believe Zapp will have any higher value than in NE elsewhere. At least he's been In the organization and in case of emergency as a 4th option he could come in. I believe mayo goes with Maye daye, Brissett and Milton. I can bet Zapp makes the PS. His arm is average. White imo would be a slight upgrade suprised NY let him go.

Bills have so many no names on defense... I can't keep up. I believe Drake can have his way with thier secondary.

There pretty much the same level both would offer a chance to win a little if your starter went down short term but neither seems like they should be threatening anyone to start.
And only one of them knows the AVP system (to my knowledge). If he could have been brought into camp at the start, different story.

Just looked at the Bills roster. There's no way they will be ahead of a heathy Rodgers led Jets and Dolphins. They are going to be fighting for a playoff spot.

What's nuts that I just found is that White's longest completion during his 405yd game was only 26yds.
