I was wondering about Bowers.

I hadn’t heard anything about him since the draft and didn’t even remember who drafted him.

Not lighting the world on fire?

I haven't heard anything specific about him either, but I will say it's pretty rare for a rookie TE to make a big splash in year one, especially early in the season. It's a notoriously difficult position to learn, going from the college game to the pros. Even Gronk had only 10 catches in his first 7 games, before finishing the season with 32 in the last 9 (including 7 TDs). The GOAT still needed half a season to get his pro feet under him.

Don’t know if he improves the OL that much here but I’d claim him anyway.

I think it's unlikely we end up adding an OT from cutdown day. Especially if Onwenu is playing RT. That sets us up with:

LT: Lowe, Okorafor or Wallace
LG: Sow
C: Andrews / Leverett
RG: Robinson
RT: Onwenu

Obviously we lack a starting LT, but I doubt there's any team cutting someone better than those 3. Teams are going to keep at least 3 OTs each and if someone is any good they can keep a 4th. It's doubtful that any team's 5th OT is better than that trio, IMO, even if none are starter level.

If we claim an OL, seems to me it will be a Center because we don't have a capable backup there - Leverett is really more of a G. Add a claim at that spot to the list above and I think that's the 9-man OL they run with. I just doubt that the OT cuts will be very appealing because who cuts good players at that spot? We don't need more backup caliber guys there.

I do think for guys forced to take practice squad spots, we'll be viewed favorably because the starter is weak and thus a realistic chance to be called on.

Don’t get fixated players just because they were cut early. They can’t be claimed on waivers until Wednesday after all the other cuts are made.

(Excluding the relatively small number of vested veterans that don’t go through waivers, of course.)
