That makes sense. IMO, the footwork has looked good and the plays have been getting out fast enough but who knows what is really going on. I'm sure there's a lot left to learn in regards to reading a coverage, but I don't think that's a necessity to keep a guy from starting - and he'd probably learn it faster seeing it live instead of on the bench and having to go back and look at it on film.I think that can vary depending on the team. I don't know what the plan they've determined is, but my guess is they have a specific list of things they want him to show, in a planned order (get the footwork up to speed, then get the playcalls and cadence down pat, etc), and they're sticking to that so as not to overwhelm him. Remember, he was the youngest QB with very little starting experience in college. If there's a "right" way to do it, there's no reason to scrap that and rush him just because Brissett has been uninspiring.
Based on Mayo's comments this week it seems like they might think he is capable of executing a completed "plan" and just needs to show it.
