Maye must play

WE KNOW STATISTICALLY the QB should play, it cannot be argued against: the odds favor playing vs not, it's just a statistical FACT
Calling out lack of evidence and not presenting evidence yourself. Bold strategy Cotton, let's see how it plays out.

Trevor Lawrence’s rookie year with no OL and inexperienced coaching was ugly. Maye will likely struggle as a starter but that’s how you learn.

What? I posted the links multiple times before.

Whatever happened to this guy anyway? He was great his rookie year.
Jay gruden happened to him!
RGIII wanted to play injured and Mike Shanahan didn't stop him even though there was a noticeable limp. He ended up suffering that major injury in the Wild Card game and he was never the same after that.

As Zo noted Maye shuffled in the pocket well in one of the early series, but as he played more he reverted to his 'duck and run' approach from his college days. Maye is trying but the improved footwork and mechanic training is not natural for him yet. And Maye looks like a young kid at 21 that needs to be in the weight room for a couple of years.
This is a great example. In a practice setting you immediately reset the QB and drill the right way. In a game situation, the player repeats it three or four more times possibly getting it more ingrained, more in muscle memory, before you get a chance to even talk to him after that series is over and zero chance to practice the right way. (and you're still going against NFL talent in your own teams' defense).

He's going to end up starting this year - the OL is too poor for him not to, but this rush to throw him to the wolves is skewed way more toward negative outcomes for the longer term (bad habits, serious injuries, mental yips from being continuously pummeled, etc) then positive ones (maybe he is one of those rare few players that can self-improve in the forge of game play).

@Real fan 02's prediction is looking like it's becoming a reality. Maye is going to start week 1.
I really believe so. Mayo's already confirmed maye will getting first team reps the rest of the way. I can bet wolf was on board. Maye is the key here. He can elevate this team.. let him make all his mistakes ect. Let's say he goes for 24- 10 , 4,000 yards. He will attract FAs. He will be the face of the organization.

Brissett has a strong arm.
Can't get it to Thornton and threw it well into the crowds to Polk yeah I get it.

Great hope they play Zappe and Milton next game no need to play Maye.

The only critique I give mayo is why wasn't maye daye getting a chance to have first team reps all camp. If we are going to go 4-13 again rather see if with maye daye.

It was clear drop by Hot shot Baker.
Yeah.. he caught it but didn't hold on to the ground. Rookie mistakes.. Polk and baker are young playmakers for us. I'm ticked Brissett couldn't get the ball to pop!

What I see in maye.. is the opposite of what I saw in Mac. A guy who the moment isn't to big for him.. he has a aura of confidence.. he steps up away from pressure, he uses his ability when plays break down. I don't think the media reports from camp did any justice. Maye should have had first team reps from the beginning.. but I firmly believe mayo was trying to challenge Drake to earn them. Maye like all QBs will learn more and more as the season goes on. Maye is the future of the franchise.. he will be the attraction for guys to come here to play.

Can't get it to a Guy who's the quickest to uncover... that's a red flag right there.

Thinking back on it.. I believe mayo wanted Drake to take the starting job.. coach is a smart man.. he knows Brissett is the pro but the kid is the answer for this team.

Brissett needs to be the starter while this offensive line sorts itself out... Once that is settled, or as close to that as this group can get, then it's time to insert Maye to provide a spark to the offense, NOT before. There is the rookie wall to respect as well.
The ideal situation is Maye replaces Brissett sometime in mid-October and provides a spark that gets the team moving and the fans excited. Playing him now is premature and come with higher risks for about the same reward.

Maye should be starting Game 5 against MIA.

The question is how much earlier to start him.

With regard to us settling on an OL, Mayo said that would be done after the 2nd pre-season game. I think that Lowe is the starter at LT. Also, Okorafor and Wallace are the starter as RT and the swing OT, with Wallace as the starter as soon as he is ready.

There are lots of decisions to make, but I suspect that Plan 1 and Plan 2 are ready to go and shouldn't affect Maye's status.
