Report: Patriots working to trade Matt Judon to Atlanta (Update: Deal is done)

He was old and susceptible to injury. They did the right thing.

Anyone who thought this team was going to be competitive in the next 3 years have only them self to blame for that expectation because it's not based on reality.
Conceding the next 3 years is nuts.

Must be a dozen other players you want traded too then. They won't be here in 4 years anyway right.

They're not conceding anything.

Not playing your third overall pick is gutless.

Trading a player in the last year of his deal, coming off major surgery, who you do not want to pay for a third round pick?

That's how you keep the production line going.

10 out of 10 move.
Being 50 mill under the cap for no reason is gutless

No one is conceding anything. The only thing that's nuts is thinking that they're a super bowl caliber team in the next 3 years.

But yes I would trade anybody on this team right now if it built up the team in a better spot in 3 years and we're currently heading towards

We need an entire offensive line, we need a number one and a number two wide receiver, and we're probably going to need some defensive lineman by the time we can make those adjustments.

This team is completely drained of any serious talent

Yeah if they’re not competing for at least the division within the next 3 years Wolfe and Mayo gotta to, also prob means Maye isn’t the guy.

You only have your self to blame if you thought this season was going to be anything other than a unmitigated disaster.
No you have the patriots front office to blame became it didn’t have to be this way

You know feisty

You know feisty you're really living up to your name.

I would never say moving a good player is a gutless move. May not end up working out for them long term, but they weren't so afraid of Matthew Judon that they had to move him. They couldn't agree on a deal, Judon acted out. They were able to smooth it over behind the scenes but clearly the contract issue was still at an impasse. Judon did the right thing showing he was a team player back at practice, and the Patriots honored what was likely a request from him (pay me what I believe I'm worth, or trade me).

It's unfortunate, but not everything has to be framed as some inherent character flaw by someone involved.
I wouldn’t say folding to a thread is “honoring” anything

Yup. Fans like to say "blow it up and rebuild"...this is what it looks like.

We're finally doing what should have been done when Brady left.

AJ you saw this crap show from 8 Miles away I was blinded and had higher expectations. My bar can't get any lower now.

The Steelers had a chance when they had Big ben at QB but he was around at the same time as Brady, so no luck there.

I'm an AFL guy all the way and I never rooted so hard for another team as I did in the 90's for the Bills when they went to 4 straight SBs. Those 4 losses were losses 7-10 of a 13 game run by the NFC. The Pats were #13 in 96.
They had a chance with Ben until the Killer B's fell apart. 2016 and losing to us in the AFCCG was their last serious chance at a Super Bowl. 2017 they were solid but didn't do much. After that they didn't make the playoffs in 2018 or 2019, got bounced in the first round the next two years. Then Ben left and they missed the playoffs in 2022, and went one and done in 2023.

I've been screaming about this since 2020.

They could of got a major headstart on this had they did the right thing in the pandemic era but they just had to win their 7 games.

I gotta say the Dolphins ownership was rated highest in the NFL by players, we were ranked I believe last or close to.
That and income taxes and a rebuild, are the results of players turning their nose up at us and choosing Pitt, Ten over us.
As Jerod said once they start winning and the culture and lockerroom change takes full effect. Players will line up to play here regardless if it’s Maye or Milton behind center.
The players that are part of the rebuild see the vision Mayo has and believes in it.
I’m sure since Kraft let all football operations to Bill he didn’t know how unhappy the players were with the facilities and amenities.
I’m sure Bill saw these as things that don’t matter but the players spoke up and said otherwise.
Also we are one of the only fanbases that boos are own players more than the other team.
That doesn’t help.
Yes I was one of the ones who bood Mac on Sundays.

Who said there was a threat? Some frustration bubbled over on Judon's part. They all got together behind the scenes, and Judon came back to practice and was a good teammate. The underlying conflict was still there, and the trade was the resolution. We have no evidence that a threat or ultimatum was made.

Not everything is a war.
