@n1997y says so, duh.Says who?
He practice (with the 1s) if he plays too.Practice. When he’s not running for his life from a jailbreak through the mediocre OL, so he can actually focus on learning and improving.
Several people were saying nothing less than a 2nd.That depends on the pick. The NYFL HOF is chock full of players drafted in the 3rd round and later.
The winning teams have one thing in common... talented players. It doesn't matter if you have an average HC. You can still win if you have good players. The opposite is not true though. Even the greatest HC in the world isn't winning without talented players. It's tough. 8 of the last SBs were won by surefire 1st ballot HoF QBs. 1 was because a coach decided to not start one of their starting CBs, and the other basically put all their chips on Double 0 multiple times in the draft (after hitting on a HoF DL and one of the best WRs in the game). If you look even further back another 11 seasons, it's all HoF QBs or borderline (... and Flacco). Everyone else are perennial losers in purgatory. For example, the Bills are really not much better off recently than the Steelers - the last AFCCG was 4 seasons ago, and that's their only one in the last 30 years!
Sounds like the recipe for another SB win is either, 1) get another Hof QB or borderline or 2) Get really lucky and catch lightning in a bottle (drafting exceptionally well, being lucky with almost everything, etc).
Imagine how they'd feel if the Pats had the GOAT QB and let him walk away. Why would they want to come here?
They would not be happy watching the team trade away the best player on defense.
Why assume it will take multiple years to turn this team around?
The 2000 Pats went 5-11 then started 0-2 before their 100mil highest paid player in NFL history got injured. They then went on to win the superbowl.
Not extending Judon is a loser mentality. The Pats had the cap space to keep him, but instead they are playing to lose the next few seasons. That's a very sad state of mind.
Something must have happened in 2001 that turned Bill into a genius HC. I wonder what it was.Vrabel got pushed out by Joey Porter. Judon was a solid player and starter on the Ravens. Van Noy, Ninko and Vrabel are the best examples of not doing much on their former teams.
While the record says they were trending downward, they had an explanation for it. They let one of the best RB's go after Pete's first year as HC. Then their first round pick suffers a career ending injury. The team had a ton of injuries and Adam V misses multiple kicks during the 1999 season that would've given them a 10-6 record at worst.
In 2001, Bill was installing his system and brought aging vets over to kick start it, but their intention was not to be competing for a Super Bowl run. I think they were regarded around the league as the worst roster in the NFL in 2001.

There were plenty of fans who didn't think we'd get a 3rd for him.Several people were saying nothing less than a 2nd.
That sounds very productive. Now that this is done release some of the players not making the team and bring in a ton of offensive lineman off the street. Open tryouts begin for the Left Tackle position NOW!
Duh.There were plenty of fans who didn't think we'd get a 3rd for him.
The player that they draft with the pick will determine if it was worth it.

The Steelers had a chance when they had Big ben at QB but he was around at the same time as Brady, so no luck there. The Bills are not anything like the Steelers. The Bills have had several opportunities to have Super Bowl seasons in recent years and due to bad luck or bad decisions or bad mistakes they have haven’t. There were several years where they were arguably a better team than the team that won the Super Bowl.
The Steelers have no shot of winning a Super Bowl. They are playing for a wild card every year and then getting outclassed in the first round of the playoffs.
Im not comparing, I'm giving an example. You cannot compare this team to the 2001 Patriots. It was a different NFL. And even then, the Pats did something unique. If you are hoping for the Patriots to redo what happened in 2001, you are living in a fantasy world. Those days are gone.
Trading away Judon shows a commitment to the future and not just trying to be average right now.

I'm an AFL guy all the way and I never rooted so hard for another team as I did in the 90's for the Bills when they went to 4 straight SBs. Those 4 losses were losses 7-10 of a 13 game run by the NFC. The Pats were #13 in 96.
We just got a potential top 70 pick for a guy that may have two good years left lol.Im not comparing, I'm giving an example.
The Chiefs went 7-9 then 2-14 before signing Andy Reid. With Reid the Chiefs went 11-5 their first year and haven't had a losing season once.
Trading away an established vet is something you do for cap saving reasons. What cap savings do the Pats need?

May, might, could, yeah. But at least you knew the production with Judon. Anyway, c'est la vie, guess you can't wait for Day 2 of next year's draft. We just got a potential top 70 pick for a guy that may have two good years left lol.
