Project 2027

I think this is the Patriots plan.
Tank this year get the first overall pick. Trade the #1 for a slew of picks in 2025 and 2026

Tank next year and get the 2026 #1 overall. Trade that for a slew of 2026 and 2027 picks.

Win 5-6 games in 2026

Spend the minimum you possibly can get away with in free agents.
Kraft pockets over $100,000,000 in cap savings and sets up the next coach with a bunch of recent high draft picks and if he wins with them we can think about spending to the cap.

The next 3 years, we will be a clown show.
Why would the current people in charge agree to this plan? You would think they would a) like to keep their jobs or b) be desirable candidates for future jobs.

I don’t read , watch or listen to the media.

If belichick were still here, I’d agree with you, but he gone and with him went to brains that made this defense work. We have role players that were schemed to make plays and be hidden from their weaknesses. That’s gone.
I will bet you were are bottom 1/4 (25th-32nd) in either yards allowed, points allowed and maybe both.
Brian is the safeties coach, Mayo and covington along with pelligrino are all still here. I have no worries with the defense. They will be fine.. the offense is my main focus this season..

Kraft hired people into jobs no one else would give them. They are thankful to have their job.

Why else would they sit around and watch 20% of the payroll not be spent?
Do you seriously think they believe they couldn’t have improved the roster and the chance of winning if Kraft let them spend?

Last 3 years were a clown show too lol
Can't get any worse
Cam is offended you refuse to recognize his clown show year as well

You think those 4 people make Bill Belichicks coaching, game planing and scheme unimportant? Seriously?

Let’s check back during or after the season and see how that worked out.

My goodness let's wait at least until the end of the preseason and final rosters before giving up on the team. Or better yet, how about we see the team play a few regular season games and then cast an opinion or two. This is bizarre speculation and requires some type of evidence to support such a crazy theory.

The evidence abounds. Unless you think a 4 win team improves by not upgrading the roster at all.

I really hope you’re wrong but the suck is real here now. Tanking ie losing intentionally would break the team and fans would be looking for blood/heads to adorn the new lighthouse so I don’t think it’s in their playbook yet…

I really hope I am wrong too, but if this team sucks (as it seems evident) and they chose to leave 43 million of cap unspent it’s hard to call it anything but a tank. Now I’m not saying they will go out and try to lose games, I’m saying they will lose because ownership chose to send them out with a partial team against teams that did everything they could to out the best roster together.

You sound unhinged.

The thought of them sucking for the next three years is, unfortunately, a distinct possibility. Because the NFL is hard and there's no guarantee this new regime hits on anything they're trying to do, or that Drake Maye is even the answer at QB. Statistically speaking, it's worse than 50/50 that he is.

But thinking the team is intentionally going to suck so the 80+ year old owner can pocket some money is tinfoil hat level lunacy.
I really can't believe I am saying this but I like homer Andy more than this version.

Such level-headed comments are a rare sight here; they're practically an endangered species! Quick, someone call the forum wildlife reserve!

This is the same guy who told anyone who dared to question the roster building the last few years to go root for another team.

Today on 98.5 Bedard had 3 downs for the week. The 3 downs were AVP, Mayo, and Covington. The reason is that the team is unprepared. Lots of procedural penalties and the run game is out of sync. Covington blitzed almost 50% in a preseason game against the 2nd and 3rd stringers on one of the worst teams in the NFL. Why blitz so much? To look good. I agree with Bedard, the coaching looks like amateur hour.

Let's hope Maye develops. Maybe the coaches can make that work? Maye's positive development is the only thing that will make this year worth watching.

Giving up on the team for this season and the next two coming seasons, no less.

When asked by the Boston sports media about Project 2027, Robert J Kraft stated that he had no knowledge of what it was.

Thunder Man bad.
