Camp surprise cut 2024

Which of the players they re-signed did you want let go?
They should've let Dugger walk and apply that money towards a FS which they currently don't have. Peppers is a cheaper option at SS and there's arguably no drop off. They transition tagged him which back fired. Nobody wanted him, so the Pats gave him more money. Makes sense.

Owenu was a massive overpay. They should've at least let him test the market which Bill had them do. NFL executives aren't that high on him and PFF can't even find a way to rank him higher than the 26th best T in the NFL going into the 2024 season. He's making top 5 money.

Bourne was such a ridiculously bad signing, it prevented them being more aggressive with Calvin Ridley. Like Osborn was, Bourne should've been second option.

Rham and Barmore were too premature. Rham is coming off a terrible season and will decline further running behind such a terrible OL and currently no threats at either QB or the perimeter. Defenses will stack the box and take him out of games early. Barmore has one good season and gets a bag of cash.

Jennings and Uche were cheap.

They were 4-13, yet throwing out money like Oprah gives out prizes at her show.

Bump since camp is coming up.

A couple more surprise names to watch:
Cole Strange
Joe Milton

A week ago on Sirius XM's Moving the Chains, Kirwin & Miller spoke with Zolak, who didn't sound like a big fan, at all, of Joe Milton...

If Strange does end up on IR I hope they work out an injury settlement and move on. I want to see the recent mistakes off the roster.

Not yet. He has one more year of control on a cheap rookie contract; I suspect he'll be outta here eventually, but I'm willing to wait until 2025 to make that determination...

Thuney was the collosal miss. Ben Watson had a hell of a career. Ch.Jones was an amazing player, but there were signs of the issues to come even on the Pats. Branch was a shame. Samuel, no for several reasons. Brady beat mother time for Grappolo. Always liked Vereen as a player. Liked Ryan and Flowers but they got big contracts. Who else was a miss for the contract they were given on the other team?
Had Bill not signed Mason two years prior, Bill would've been more aggressive with Thuney where he bailed on Bill when he tried to contact him at the 11th hour. Thuney already made up his mind and wanted to sign with the Chiefs.

Watson didn't deserve a 2nd contract. He was mediocre despite his measurables. He had Moss, Stallworth and Welker clearing out coverage in 2007, yet he only musters 389 yards on that season in 2007. He continued to be pedestrian afterwards. In fact, had they re-signed him, Gronk is probably breaking records on another team and the 2nd Dynasty never happens.

Two things with Samuel. One, he was never going to sign with the Pats and made that clear prior to returning in 2007. Second, Samuel was worthy of a 2nd contract based on his overall play, but the **** he pulled in the Super Bowl is why no fan is mad he left.

Flowers was worthy of a 2nd contract, but not anywhere close to what Patricia paid him in desperation to help get control back in the locker room (media speculation).

Branch was worthy, but he was holding out wanted to get paid top 5 money now rather than possibly going through the tag nonsense. It's too bad he couldn't stay just one more season as they probably win the Super Bowl in 2006.

Chandler Jones yes.

Great post. Chandler had a thing with fading as the season went on. Not sure why that happened but it did every year. Also the drugs and mental stability were a huge risk. For me, Chandler was a No. Maybe in hind sight it was a Yes, but at the time I think a No was the right decision.

I hope for your sake he grasps the Defense he was a healthy scratch many times last year. Will be interesting to see how Mayo and Wolf views him.
Mapu played in all 17 games including 1 start. This is what is meant by you not bothering with reality. This is readily available information for pro-football-reference.com -under the Player's page and game logs.

The IBBWT lemmings are still making up ways to justify the selection IR Hofer in the making here.

What's laughable is that you continue to spew your garbage as if you think you're something special. You totally mischaracterize what people say in a pathetic attempt to look intelligent.

I'd call you a lemming, but that'd be an insult to lemmings everywhere. At least they don't know any better.

I’d be shocked especially since his contract was extended.

You didn't look at the date of the post you responded to. It was before Rhamondre got his extension.

Ok so let's just forget the allure to come here the past 19 seasons.. you can hold bills balls all you want.. no one here is proclaiming bill wasn't important of course he was.

However as Willie Mac said the players set the culture in the locker room not the coaches. Brady continued a culture set by those before him. So you continue to just throw Brady out like someone made him. No Brady made lots of players and coaches millions. You think Josh gets multiple jobs? If not for him. You can coach all you want if the qb doesn't execute the plan then it means nothing
Nobody said good QB play wasn’t necessary on every winning team… so this is just another Brady ballwashing post.

Good QB play was a given for two decades on the Patriots, it takes a lot more than that to win rings… ask Dan Marino. Brady benefited from BB defenses as much as Bill benefitted from Brady offenses. It’s a team sport.

We had GREAT QB play for 2 decades. Good is not good enough for brady he felt he needed to be great. So call it brady ball washing all you want.. you had your pom poms out just like we all did. Earlier in his career the defenses was sensational. Brady carried the team for the most part when those Defensive units got old and slow and giving up 400 yards in the air.

The defense held one of the highest scoring offenses in history to 3 points in 2018, just like they did in 2001… give us a break.

Tom didn’t play defense, football comes in three phases. It’s a team game, this is just ballwashing nonsense. Tom owes his rings to his defense the way his defense owes their rings to his offense… team game.

Interesting.. rham. Played hurt the last 2 seasons he pretty much was the offense. He was rode into the ground.. Dugger benefited from being in the system and no body was really paying FS this offseason.. Barmore Played well since his rookie season and finally was healthy and showed his full abilities.. ownenu is one of the best O lineman in the league.. he wasn't overpayed.. he been good since his rookie season.. KB is a good player he was on his way to over 1,000 yards had he not got hurt. He's a good player and great locker room guy. You have to remember the NFL cap was extended so teams had more capital to spend.. we were at the bottom in cash spending.. we are in the top half of the league now. Wether we all agree with how it was spent the organization had too spend for a number of reasons. I agree Jennings and uche were cheap signings.. I mean all in all they were a bad team last year.. let's have some hope this is a better year.

2018 yes. What happened in 2019? Henry was running over Hightower like he was a **** roach.

Unless you’re Mac Jones then it’s all your fault that your team’s defense had the worst performance in NFL playoff history against a division rival. Or something.

And BB’s defense didn’t look so great in the second half of the 2018 AFC Championship game either.

To be fair, if Brady hadn’t thrown that ****ing HORRIBLE EZ pick during the first half (same as he did in his Final NFL game), if they had converted 4th down within chip-shot FG range during the second half, and if the ****ing zebras had called BLATANT ****ING OPI against the ****ing Queefs on one of their TDs, then this game would’ve been much, Much easier for the defense.

If ifs were a 5th we'd all be drunk

Ok how did his defense look in the 18, 08, 11, 12 superbowls?.??? Coincidence TB12s as you say all world defense couldn't stop anything in those games. If not for TB12 3 consecutive 3rd down completions we don't get to the 2019 superbowl...
