Juwan Bentley signed a contract last year. Jon Jones extended, he’s been with one team his entire career and has signed four contracts in that time. Jabrill Peppers extended, so did Joe Cardona, so did Daniel Eukale. How many times has David Andrews signed a new contract?

BB didn’t sign players to contracts is false. He didn’t overpay JC Jackson and that was smart, he didn’t overpay Malcolm Butler he paid Stephon Gilmore instead and that was smart, he didn’t pay Chandler Jones 100M dollars because he smoked baths salts and was bipolar… smart.

Curran actually has a good relationship with bill.. he and Bill vacationed together he knows Bill intimately. If there is anyone more tied in to the organization and Bill it's Tom E. Curran. Bill of course did extend players however the players drafted by him to not see 2nd contracts here is jarring.

JC was a toss up.. he like butler, we're low balled by scrooge bill during the season on contract offers. Agree. What I'm saying is Bill offered him what I'd call a low ball contract and becuase Dave Andrews is such a humble guy and has that southern charm he likely prioritized staying here over money elsewhere. My opinion was just that his contract is a bit low

Spreading the money across the entire 53 man roster instead of having a few bloated contracts at the top and a bunch of jags. It’s easy to spend when your QB is on a rookie contract, it takes a lot more thought and care when your QB is one of the highest paid players in the league.

As a patriot fan you enjoyed and benefited from this fiscal responsibility for two decades, now you’re whining about how the sausages were made and suggesting five minutes into the new regime their way is better… even though every contract Wolf signed was exactly how BB would have done it. Ok. We had stability at the most important position in football for 19 seasons.. any GM would had benefited from that. It makes it so other resources can be put into the team.. it's a method to the madness. Deservedly so the greatest coach to ever do it was making close to 30 million a season. If he was singing guys like wolf did he wouldn't have had the contracts he was given. RK benefited so Bill had to benefit too.

I'm certainly are not a fan of all these re-signings, but there's a reason why many Patriots draft picks didn't get a 2nd contract and that was because they were either bad or replaceable. They only few players that were worthy of 2nd contracts, but didn't get them were Chandler Jones, Deion Branch, David Givens, Asante Samuel, and Joe Thuney. Jamie Collins can also be argued as he was coming off an All Pro year before being traded in 2016.

That's not really a lot of guys in 24 years.

Only one obvious terrible evaluation, and a lot of incredible and/or solid players there.

Players whose seconds contracts were with other teams. I make 24.

D.Graham, E.Wilson, Samuel, B.Watson, Cassell, Hobbs, Meriweather, Butler, Larsen, Spikes, Vereen, Wilson, Ridley, Ch.Jones, Ryan, Grappolo, Brissett, Flowers, Brown and Thuney. Chung, Branch, Tully Cain and Collins went and came back.

Thuney was the collosal miss. Ben Watson had a hell of a career. Ch.Jones was an amazing player, but there were signs of the issues to come even on the Pats. Branch was a shame. Samuel, no for several reasons. Brady beat mother time for Grappolo. Always liked Vereen as a player. Liked Ryan and Flowers but they got big contracts. Who else was a miss for the contract they were given on the other team?

Yes agree that there has been more home signed players this off season than normal, and I don't think that's a bad thing. But Jennings, Barmore, Onwenu, Henry, Andrews, Uche, Duggar, Bourne and Stephenson are quality players and there was a lot of cap space. Might just be a unique off season this year?

What a remarkable stat. Thank you for posting this. Over the years it's like we know the player's names of course and seen them perform. that come and go, but to really out up that stat is just remarkable. Brady is the mainstay. Becuase I've argued had Brady took what he really was worth over the years of the 26 how many of the 26 would you think would have been extended?

Ben Watson absolutely agree I had a chance to meet him and his family one time he is a true gentleman. Thuney I will never understand that one.. you franchise the guy just to let him walk.

The Dynasty teams spent to the salary cap every year, and to roll a competitive team out for two decades you need a lot more than a great QB. We've seen great QB's on 4 and 7 win teams. Defensive free agents also wanted to play in Bill's defense... they don't play offense.

Brady benefitted from Bill's defenses for two decades the same way Bill benefitted from Brady offenses. Brady ball washers need to understand how football works and get over their man-love.

However as Willie Mac said the players set the culture in the locker room not the coaches. Brady continued a culture set by those before him. So you continue to just throw Brady out like someone made him. No Brady made lots of players and coaches millions. You think Josh gets multiple jobs? If not for him.
