Maye shows improvement, Brisket still expected to start

Pete had three years in the NFL as a HC followed by ten years running/coaching a Div I school... Pete learned how to run successful program at USC, and was able to transition that success at USC to the NFL level... also didn't hurt getting Richard Sherman & Russell Wilson in back to back years...

Maybe I'm missing something here... If you don't mind, look up Jerod Mayos coaching history, point out to me where he was able to gain a comparable level of head coaching experience compared to Pete Carroll...

I'll wait...

Coaching success depends on the players. Mayo will only be as good as the talent level. Bill just showed that.
Right now the talent level is poor. Do not expect too much from Mayo in year one.

Case and point Mike Martz with the Rams after Vermeil Greatest show on turf.

Let me be clearer on my stance. Wolf had farve for Rodgers to sit behind, there is none of that whatsoever in NE.

If and when Drake is ready the team will start him.. if the o line is ****ty the all the QB will suffer. Of course as a fan your excited and want your talented QB to play.. when I say I want him to play I'm saying if, and when he's ready be it week 1 or week 12...
Right now it's all pure speculation no one knows how this all is going to work out.

I keep going back to Houston they too took the same approach with CJ.. but he showed early on he was ready and it worked for them.. it's we just have to wait and see.. even the sports people don't know.. they report want they think.. every position on the 53 will be competitive. All I know is I just want watchable football this fall no matter who's at QB.
I do believe Maye will be the best QB at the start of the season
The big question is: what is best for the Developmental aspect of his hopefully promising career
I'm good for waiting some time if it is best for the future

Agree and that's fair. It will all depend on these next few weeks.. by final roster cutdowns.. if he's high and above the competition then mayo and his staff have some interesting decisions to make.

It's okay, you can say what everyone knows... he doesn't have any experience vs 13 years for carroll... Can't get why that's so hard for you to admit... Oh wait, maybe its because it makes your post irrelevant

Learning from the best? Yeah done wonders for everyone else on the coaching tree... How'd the last defacto DC that took a hc job elsewhere do?

So yeah, I'm going to be prudent when it comes to forecasting future successes...

Geeze, if you are going to go after me, stop making it so easy.

That's great. Still changes nothing about his lack of experience vs Pete Carroll having 13 years as a hc in the NFL and a div 1 college program.

I hear ya Pape. But we can question his experience until we are blue in the face.. the decision was made to make him the HC while bill was here all part of the plan that Bill backed.

So let's judge him on what happens from week 1 on beyond.

Bill did not "back " Jerod Mayo replacing him as HC in 2024.

Listen, I want him to be a success. I want him to be here for a long time.

Also not naive enough to be dancing in the clouds over what's coming this season. Hard ass schedule, rookies HC DC OC QB . Going to be a long season.

I'm not coming after you Pape: I think they have set Mayo up for success I like the people he has around him: maybe not McDaniels and Patriciia in their primes but everybody even them started somewhere. P.s. I think Mayo is going be special.

and i hope you are right.

I want him to be a winner. To be the first real success on the Belichick Tree.

To be fair Martz was the offensive coordinator the entire time.

I think the Pat’s D will still be competitive assuming they extend Judon and Godchaux. Covington has been there some time and must understand the scheme, they also still have a Belichick coaching DB’s.

Van Pelt is an unknown but he’s well regarded around the league and I like his comments this off-season, he seems to have his priorities in order.

Now can that OLine block?

Pape, I've said personally there would be no shame if Mayo ended up having mike Tomlin type of carreer. He's the longest tenured coach with Bill out right now.

If he hits the level of Mike Tomlin, then Bob did well. He might be a tool, but iirc he's never had a losing season... There are flaws in his game but overall he's a good coach.

Never had a loosing season in 18 seasons.. absolutely remarkable.. Mayo's got alot of support from the organization. I'm optimistic in his abilities. As we know it's all tied to the QB.

We don't know about Maye but if he starts right away I'll be optimistic because it'll mean the coaches have faith in him.

I heard a great story the other day about optimism and pessimism btw. It was a story that Ronald Reagan told a large group of pols when he first became President in the 80's. He told them about a pair of twin brothers, one who was always optimistic and the other who was always pessimistic. He said that their parents tried to balance them out by giving the pessimist a room full of great toys for Christmas while they gave the optimist a large pile of horse manure.

After an hour the parents went into the pessimist's room and he was sitting on the bed sulking because one toy's batteries died, another broke and none of them were any good. The parents then went into the other brother's room and there he was, tossing horse manure into the air. When they asked him what he was doing he said that he was looking for the pony.

That's when Reagan stated that he was tossing aside the manure and looking for the ponies.
That's a bunch of horseshit
