Pape: we are not weak on Both sides of the Ball we Potentially could have a Great Defense with good health of course. We are not talking about an expansion Team here. Our Offense was our achilles from the QB position especially. I think our OL is going to be better and a Aiyuk puts our WR Position over the Top.
PF, who is not here anymore? Who is not here to help craft/tweak those Defensive game plans?

Who has a new Defensive Coordinator, one who has zero experience in making a Game Plan and calling a D & making in game adjustments for the whole defense? We do. You can't count on the defense to be Great. Its just another unknown because of the coaching inexperience of this staff. Now, I don't think we will be ****e... and the defense should be average to good based on past performances of the talent we have... but for now, consider me cautious until I see otherwise.

and as much as I would like it, i'm not putting any belief in Brandon Aiyuk being in New England until he signs a contract here... or, at the very least, until someone posts a pic of him renting a car at Logan...

"Great" remains to be seen. I don't know if I'd call them great even at full health. Also a new coaching staff.

With this schedule we'll find out quickly.

Agreed.. Allen would love to have our defense, burrow would too. The O line isn't as bad a shape as many like to scare people to believe...

Think about this burrow is going into the season with bent Trent at LT.. no thanks I'd rather take a chance with Chuks instead.

BB ain't walking through that door I have moved on and is very happy Mayo had the chance to learn from him. That BB the last Three years was going off the last 20 years very overrated it had to end sometime. I trust the new regime.

Real, Burrow have the other Brown @ LT Orlando Brown they signed him in FA 23 from KC: Trent Brown will be their RT. I love the Bengals in my heart really solid Team all around.

Pape all things considered it's reported Bill let SB and Mayo have complete control of the D last 2 seasons... Bill was with the offense more... was even reported Bill was calling plays on offense in 2022.. Mayo already said he's keeping the same principles on the D and he's going to more of a attacking front.. please don't get me wrong loosing the GOAT at anything is going to be an adjustment period.. however the defense still has the same coaches and players. Pelligrino the Best CB coach in the league is still here, Brian is still the safeties coach, D covington, and Mayo overseeing it all. By all means in 2024 this is very much a great defense.

Your right. He is the LT my mistake... I still rather have the unknown then have that version of brown

I am referring to DeMarcus Covington here. Since he's the Defensive Coordinator. He's going to have to do the heavy lifting. I am not syaing he's not up to the task, but I am going to take a wait and see approach before authoring anything that says we will have a Great Defense in 2024.

Mayo doesn't have 30 years of coaching experience to fall back on. He does not represent the same type of sounding board Belichick did for Mayo and Steve.

Trent will protect Burrow I always liked Trent Brown.... we'll see him Game 1.

Gotta start somewhere Pape... Mayo is a student of the game I'd say that's a good start.

start, being the key word

you can't expect the same results...

or maybe you can. I cannot.

Oh I hear ya brother.. I agree it will be adjustment.. but the benefits are these guys they've been around Bill. Obviously mayo as a coach and player, covington has been with organization 8 seasons.. if he can't step up then thier will be someone else that can.. mayo has something many cannot say.. selected by Bill as a player and as a coach.. heck brady nicknamed him mini-bill..

Speaking for myself.. I'm really not as concerned about the defense.. 90% of my focus is the offense.

I liked the 2018 version of him..
I feel Trent I would have probably dogged it too if I hated my HC. That BB who got canned wasn't fun to play for many players have come out. I was hoping Mayo and Trent worked it out oh well.

Like the Picture of Odell at the hertz LOL...

I think the organization probably felt it was time to move on.. as last season was just terrible for the entire offense.. remember they had to pay him to get him to camp.. I would have been open to keeping him...a motivated version.. but this is trent.. at his best he's 2018 all pro and at his worse he's 2023 Trent...

Cheerleader Pete Carroll according to some around here was a Malcom Butler pick away from repeating. I don't think anybody here expected Pete to have the success he had in Seattle. I see a similar trend for Mayo.

I do too! And PF2..think if this... Mike Tomlin is the longest tenured coach never had a loosing season... if Mayo had similar success that's a successful career.. however I think what Mayo can look at is Demecco Ryan's...

if he starts, he starts. I can't do anything about it. and of course i will root for him to succeed.

If he sits I will be happier knowing that he has a chance to develop properly, even if it means the team has to rely on less than stellar qb play from Jacoby Brissette for a while...

and i would respond to the nice Reagan story with the 7P's - Proper Planning and Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance
So you like Ps I'd imagine... LOL..

Pete had three years in the NFL as a HC followed by ten years running/coaching a Div I school... Pete learned how to run successful program at USC, and was able to transition that success at USC to the NFL level... also didn't hurt getting Richard Sherman & Russell Wilson in back to back years...

Maybe I'm missing something here... If you don't mind, look up Jerod Mayos coaching history, point out to me where he was able to gain a comparable level of head coaching experience compared to Pete Carroll...

I'll wait...
