Maye shows improvement, Brisket still expected to start

The collaboration gave their opinion to Bill, and Bill went with it even though he had the right to decide differently being in total control of football ops.
The Kraft's own the team, they have final say.

Bill has final say over football ops. That was literally his job. Bill drafted Mac Jones because he wanted to. All other opinions are just Team Bill excuses.
Kraft owns the team. Jonathan is taking over for his dad and is clearly making the team in his image now. Collaboration began before the 2021 season, Bob literally announced it at the owners meetings.

Facts suck for you.

it was also literally in Bill's contract. if Bill did not maintain 100% final say and total control, his contract would have voided and he would have been a free agent.

hence at the very end, the speculation would Bill have come back with out total control, which Bill publicly said he would. he had the chance, and NEVER did Bill ever say he did not have full control, or that the control went to the Kraft's.

Peyton Manning said his first year was invaluable to his learning process, he needed to play despite having a horrible team.
I get if you're sitting behind Aaron Rodgers for a year but sitting behind Jacoby?

Maye mechanics will be fine, he'll figure it out fast. That's such an overblown issue for him. He'll know the offense well enough, the guys bright.
I get what you are saying on a normal NFL rookie QB, I'm 100% convinced Maye is not a normal NFL rookie.
I guess I've seen enough of him to know he is special, and any issue he has from inexperience are more than made up for by superior talent.

Herbert started for a team coming off 5-11, was fine.
Chiefs may have lost a Super Bowl chance not playing Mahomes year 1.
Nobody needed more work than Allen and he played 11 games year 1.
SO, if the line "sucks" (because Jacoby sucks) we just sit him the whole year? How many games is it OK to play him if the O line has an issue all year? If it's more than zero than it needs to be 17.

I really can't wait until training camp, dude is going to blow Jacoby away and make them start him.
A picture is worth 1000 words...
The collaboration drafted Mac.
Did the collaboration hire Matt & Joe? I know, I know.. he was forced to make that decision. While paying Steve B 2.5 while nick caley had CVS gift cards.

There is no report anywhere that says Bill lost full control over football ops. He had it, Mac was his boy, he takes full responsibility for Jones not panning out here.

Yes! Bill told weei at the end of 2022 to " put it all on me for not working out"

Zappe put up a 100 QB Rating with Matt and Joe, then he got benched reportedly because Mac went up the backstairs at Gillette and complained he wasn't getting fair treatment.

When Patricia was handed the defense, if not the title, I used to regularly blast him for not being particularly good at his job. Over time he improved and the defense improved along with it. I have no clue if he would have improved calling offense but none of us will ever know... the owners meddled and we saw the result in 2023.

There's very few reports about what goes on behind the scenes at Gillette, and you ignore the ones that don't tell you what you want to hear. "Biased" is the word...

RK said Bill had earned the right to do things his way at the owners meeting...
Saying one thing and preparing for BB's exit and meddling in coaching is talking out both sides of your mouth.

Kind of like producing a hit piece documentary on your former coach in an attempt to get into the HOF then pretending like you didn't make it.

If Bill was stripped of full control of football ops, we would have heard about it from guys like Curran.

Safe to say... that did not happen.

I'm as high on Maye as anybody.
He will be the best qb from that draft longterm.
I have no doubt he could beat out Jacoby already to start game 1.
I have one reservation: Drake has some mechanical flaws as well as not a lot of experience reading defenses.
His mechanical issues, primarily footwork, can and will be fixed. We all know it takes repetition. Over and over til it becomes natural. If he starts right away it becomes harder for him to fix those flaws.
Why? Because hes a competitor. He wants to win. So hes going to lean on his strengths when under pressure.
He won't have the muscle memory from thousands of reps of proper footwork.
So he'll run too much. You don't fix qb mechanics playing in games that count before your mechanics are squared away.
It's like a boxer stepping into the ring before he's properly trained.
Is the preseason enough time for him to make major strides on his footwork?
I don't know. He's a smart guy with a great work ethic. I'm skeptical he can fix it enough in the preseason that he doesn't have to think about it when he steps on the field.
I could be wrong. I'd be thrilled if I was.
I'll also be thrilled if I'm not because I
know eventually he'll fix it be one of the best qbs in the nfl.
I don't think it'll take him a full season to be ready. But it might actually speed his development, not slow it, if he sits and learns for a while.
There's so much to learn for a rookie qb.
Once he's starting there's just no time to work much on mechanics, you're gameplanning your next opponent and that takes all your time.
Either way, we all lucked out with this kid.
Being a consistent playoff team ain't far away

Who said he was stripped of control, he was absorbed into the collaboration... you don't understand the definition of the word.

Not once have you read BB's contract with the Patriots... give us a freaking break.

BB always believed in collaboration, this version of it just didn't work.

You have zero clue what went on, neither do I, but you Rakrp and the legion of BB haters are the only ones pretending to know.

LOL LOL.. okay so Zapp put up a 100 QB rating. Dedham High QB could put up a perfect passer rating in that barnum and Bailey offense they ran. The defense was okay with Patricia, but better under Flo. Matt should have stayed on defense. He was In over his head calling offense even Bill loyalist Lombardi said they didn't have an offense they just called a bunch of plays. Mac got hurt that season and didn't trust his coaching.

As Curran reported they gave bill time. Bill had 3 seasons post brady.

There are plenty of clues what went on. Like the lack of any report from reliable sources like Reiss, Curran or Kyed that BB was stripped of full control over the football ops. It's easy to believe the collaboration fed Bill their recommendation and Bill agreed to it. Nobody ever claimed Bill was a dictator.
