Now that we have the benefit of a little bit of hindsight . . . which fan base do you think was more delusional this offseason?

The Bears, for thinking that Justin Fields was somehow the solution to the Patriots' QB woes? To the point that some of them felt that he was worth trading down from #3 to #9 for, and a few truly delusional fans thought he was worth the #3 overall?

Or the Vikings, for thinking the Pats would let the Vikings have Drake Maye and willingly go into the QB wilderness for less than a "historic return"?

At the time I could understand the logic of the hypothetical Vikings trade, based on the reality of the Patriots having so many holes to fill.

The concept of Fields garnering a #3 overall pick never made any sense, on multiple levels.

There were a few here on this site that were every bit as delusional as the Bears fans (and some in the media) were.

The bears for sure. Justin fields yielded essentially the same that mac jones did in a trade. Anyone trading #3 for fields and #9 would have been fired on the spot.

Three first rounders is tough to turn down.

Did any Bears fans actually expect Fields would return so much value?

With how everyone thinks the jete won the SB lotto ticket with AR and are going all the way this year…how did they not get a spot?!? But yea the dude with the pink wallet and nails’ team. DaBears…

Always and forever will be the Cowboys

I don't see why you'd call out those respective fan bases specifically. Speculative chatter about those moves was league wide, including Patriots fans, after Pats brass said they'd consider offers.

We had some fans here telling us Fields was good and we should trade for him. Delusional is a good word for it…

I thought Fields would be worth trying out for a sixth- or a seventh-rounder, but certainly not trading out of No. 3 for. The Steelers deal for him might prove worthwhile.

We’d be trading for the Bear’s version of Mac Jones. The problem is both players only have a year left on their rookie deal, and nobody was picking up that 5th year option.

So you’d be taking a QB in the draft while also giving Fields or Mac a chance to redeem themselves for a year. You’d be taking away valuable time and reps from your rookie to fix a flawed player.

The best thing that could happen for both Fields and Mac is go sit on a bench for some time, preferably on a good team and learn how to play the QB position by watching a better vet.

Completely different QB's with different flaws in their game. The only thing they really had in common is they went through subpar coaching on their old teams....
