#1 WR? Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo anyone?

Deebo will be traded when they sign Aiyuk next season.
I guess Deebo was a older prospect when he came out a while back he'll be 29 in 2025 now I see why they want to keep the younger Aiyuk.

Oh so you don't think Maye will be any good...I have a good feeling about him. Heck I didn't think too much of Josh Allen initially but look how he turned out. You can't teach what Maye's already got you have to hope he puts it all together at least that's my hope.

Maybe he likes him better!

So you're say the Niners shake up begins in 25??
Yes. Nobody is going anywhere this season. They couldn't even win a Super Bowl with everyone they have on offense last season. McCaffery and Kittle are one year older and can approach the cliff at any moment. Trading Deebo or Aiyuk would be idiotic.

And thier defensive front is a year older, bosa isn't reliable he's always hurt. and he fades as the game goes along. Great player, but not reliable and sometimes can't beat single blocks. Purdy is the limo driver of the team..they will have to pay him not becuase he's spectacular, but becuase of the QB market and he's a winner.

Absolutely NO. This is not the year to invest BOTH high draft picks and a large percentage of your cap space for even great WR 's like the ones mentioned.

NEXT season would be more appropriate to make a move like that when those guys could be UFA's and the WR FA class will be better and deeper than last year's.

Also next year we should have Maye starting at QB plus our young WR corps will have a full season together.

In my ideal situation, we will have a competitive fun team who will be in most games but not win too many games and pick in the top 5 and get the best LT prospect in the draft and the best WR in FA.

Agree on Bosa. I loved him as a rookie and 2nd year player, but his play has dipped, fades in and out of games and now there's always something bothering him. Now that another player along that D-line is gone (Arik Armstead), it will put even more pressure on him.

You and I have talked about it before, but their secondary can't be relied upon. They didn't collapse like they did in 2019, but they still can't be trusted.

I like Purdy. He's not flashy or has a cannon, but doesn't get fazed and gets it done. His stats speak for themselves - they are elite. The interior OL tried their best to lose the games for them against GB and Detroit, but Purdy made plenty of off balance throws. I'd like to see the interior improve and I think he'll be even better.

If anyone were willing to trade a high draft pick for him and pay him, it would have happened already.

Anyone willing to make that trade and spend that money is a fool.

San Francisco was prepared for this when they took a WR at the end of the first round. Nobody wants Aiyuk at that dollar amount, and San Fran wanting a high draft pick makes this a nonstarter. The first domino to fall has to be the 49ers willingness to let him go for a much later pick.
They’re hoping to keep him and dump Deebo.

It’s somewhat difficult to predict injuries…in fact some may say it’s impossible. Sanu had a very good game against WTF’s…then got injured. Was it a major error because he got injured? In hindsight yes.
Sanu was always just a good possession WR, my biggest problem with trading him for a 2nd was Brady had a similar weapon there in rookie Jakobi Meyers and didn’t want to work with him.

Tom literally had the kid benched when Sanu joined the team. They could have saved the 2nd by playing Meyer’s instead and the punt returns would have been far superior because they demoted Gunner to fit Sanu on the roster. Just a desperate trade in the middle of a championship hunt.

We don’t know this for sure, if Deebo plans on extending for a reasonable deal and Aiyuk wants to moon they’ll boot Aiyuk out quickly. He thinks he’s better than he is.

The Pats will be lucky to win 4 games, with or without Aiyuk, why waste draft capital and cap space.

The Pats have no starting tackles, whoever will be at QB will be running for his life.
I think you and Son of Flicka have it wrong. The Pats OL will be better than it was and QB will be much better.

I'm going with 7 wins.

That damn Brady. He was always a terrible GM.

He was grousing and pouting on an 11-0 team about weapons and because AB got charged with rape and threatened a single mother and her toddler on social media.

BB tried to get Tom the weapons he wanted, the weapons he wanted were a sociopath and a WR who was an older Jakobi Meyers… should have just used Meyers.

I wasn't there, but if Brady didn't trust Meyers there was most likely a reason. The fact that Meyers improved isn't a knock on Brady and may actually be a result of Brady's tough love.

That's the same type of thing that we heard about Brady mistreating N'Keal Harry.

Meyers got it and Harry didn't.

Nah, Meyers had caught 70+ percent of his targets. Prior to Brady benching him he had caught something like 11 straight passes, he was the talk among rookies. He failed the run the second progression in a route and got benched. Then we saw AB and Sanu do the same exact thing and not get benched. Tom wanted out of NE, his wife was moaning… it was time to leave.

I know how you feel about Aiyuk enjoy.

Let me show you some N’Keal Harry highlights from Arizona… he’s amazing.
No no no thanks Wozzy I'm eating.

I like Aiyuk, but not that much. He gets a lot favorable coverage with teams worrying about Kittle, McCaffery and Samuel. Not to mention he has the best play designer in the league along with Andy Reid.
To the bolded. Teams aren't playing Aiyuk any lesser or giving him "favorable" coverage bc of those guys. Kyle is definitely one of the better designers in the game though. All those guys are "schemed" open to a point but Aiyuk is actually someone they use as a "man/coverage beater." Deebo gets fed manipulated touches and is a big asset behind the los but McCaffrey has almost made that part of his game redundant believe it or not. And thats really where Kyle's strengths play through. A)Confusion behind the los.
B)making you think youre seeing 100 different plays but its only a 1/3 of that. Its just that he has position-less/interchangeable guys in Caff, Kittle, Juice, Deebo, Aiyuk ...
C)making you defend every blade of grass with an elite skill group/elite 5.

Recently he's taken some PA out of his plays and replaced it with what's "looks" like a run play - motion / going out wide or vice-versa with Juice. Thats who really dictates a coverage bc you have to respect the run when he's in there. Him and McVay have broken away from the traditional "Shanahan type offense" in a few regards but kept some staples. One being less PA, more straight dropbacks with Stafford and Purdy. Again with what "looks" like a run play.

Aiyuks the one guy on that roster you can line up out wide and just ask him to win against man/cb1 coverage and he's been seeing that type of attention from teams. He definitely gets helped by Shanahan but has become a solid WR1B after the big boys (Adams, Jefferson, Hill, Lamb etc)

Last point. It's ok to have help. No one has had more scheme + good coaching help over the last 5-6 years than Ty Hill. He's landed in perfect offenses for him. Ran by two perfect QB for said systems (No Tua isnt elite but hes nasty in that system) and two coaches that have been copied for years/decades.

A potential top 5 pick and $30+ million a season for Aiyuk is too much imo. They could get a franchise LT with the pick, and top WR in free agency next offseason and be much better off.

I want to be clear. I'm not advocating trading our 25 1st RD pick. Thats not just a "pick." We just went through this with Maye. There's very few prospects worth that pick. So I'm holding onto that pick unless the Browns want to give up Myles or something like that.

I'm simply saying Aiyuk is very much in that WR1B tier after guys like Hill, Jefferson, Adams etc He's put himself among the top tier of wrs in that group.

"He caught 14 of 20 passes thrown both outside the numbers and 15-plus air yards last season, the best rate (70%) of any player in the last four seasons (min. 20 targets)" - cbs

"No qualifying receiver (at least 50 catches total over the last two seasons) has a higher Success Rate (receptions of at least 40% of yards required on first down, at least 60% of yards required on second down, and 100% of required yards on third or fourth down, divided by targets) than Aiyuk, and only Rashid Shaheed of the New Orleans Saints (11.1) has a higher Yards per Target average over the last two seasons than Aiyuk’s 10.8. And Aiyuk’s catch rate of 69.9% is unusually high for a guy with so many deep targets" - Doug Farrar

Y/R 17.9 (2nd)

1342 (7th) - - - (Out of the top 10 in rec yards he had at least 27 less than the next wr)

1st down % (1st)

YPR (2nd or 3rd I know its Hill, Nico? than Aiyuk or Aiyuk is 2nd) - - - (PFF - In the past 10 years, only six receivers have hit 3.0 yards per route run over a season, Aiyuk being one of them)

***side note***
It's well known Aiyuk was dealing with a core injury when he ran the 40. It's not really a big negative in context. Also BA has an incredible wingspan at 80". Hardly just a guy that runs a "4.5"

---ASTB--- Give Aiyuk more targets and you have a more explosive player and probably still more efficient. Plus Aiyuk is more of an outside threat. He's very as good or better than ASTB.

ASTB had 164 targets this past year for 1515 10 TD 12.7 Y/R
72.6%

22 - 146 targets - 1161 - 6 TD - 10.0 Y/R
72.6%

BA
23 - 105 targets - 1342 - 7 TD - 17.9 Y/R
71.4% catch rate

22 - 114 targets - 1015 - 8 TD - 13.0 Y/R - 68.4 catch rate

Again I never suggested parting with our 25 1st. It's just pretty clear Aiyuk has joined the 1B cast of players.

Best Season Of Career:
Juju - 111 catches, 1426 yards, 7 TD's
Aiyuk - 75 catches, 1342 yards, 7 TD's

Good player, but not some transcendent talent like Moss, Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Julio Jones...

He's more like young Juju, a simply "good" talent in a great situation.

You don't trade high draft capital for that, you don't overpay for that, doing both would be hurting your team. You can't overpay for "great," you can only overpay for "good."

It looks like this is a non-story anyway and we can stop talking about it, his own words he plans on playing out his contract on the 49ers this season and next year will either have a new deal or be a free agent.

Next season the Patriots should go after Chris Godwin, he's better...
