#1 WR? Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo anyone?

We can get Higgins for no cost next year or mid season for 3rd rounder if Bengals season goes for a toss.

Don't expend 2025 picks ( Rd 1 and 2) when it's the highest you might be picking in years.
We can get Higgins at no cost next year?

How do you think that you will prevent other teams from making deals that Higgins will choose over that offered by the patriots?

We will be probably having 2 Rd 1 picks ( trade down possibility ) and a high 2nd rounder and a budding team with rookie stars in Maye, Polk and Baker and rising stars in defense in Austin miles and gonzo . And we have a pretty high cap space next year and can compete with the best for next 3 years under good rookie contracts.

Although it’s subject to change right now only Will Campbell, a LT out of LSU is considered. top15 pick, and if there isn’t a top LT on the board when they are picking they could also get a great WR prospect with their first round pick, and either get their tackle in free agency or the 2nd round of the next draft.

The key question is whether Aiyuk is a flashy luxury item when we haven't yet got a roof over our heads in the way of a reliable OL and a coaching staff that has settled in properly. Arguably next year (after a likely top-5 pick) is a better time to pick up a WR1.
9ners are likely going to want a first rounder for him.. Diggs went for less than that so I don't think any team is parting with a 1st rounder for him. A 2nd is what we could consider him. If a trade does not materialize now then I'm good with letting the young guys play and creating our own # 1. Aiyuk worked his way into becom a great player.

When Zeke got 20+ carries the Cowboys won like 95% of their games. Not bc of his carries. They were up from passing and ran out the ball. Those stats are meaningless. Deebo was clearly WR2 last year and wasn't close to Aiyuk as a WR. One guy is fed manipulated touches while Aiyuk is a legit wr. And I'm a Deebo fanboy. Anyone who watched the 49ers last year saw Deebo come down to earth and struggle to separate.
The 49ers would be fools to trade him right now as they need to keep everyone they can as their Super Bowl window is right now. If Aiyuk goes off again this season, I think the 49ers will trade Deebo and not Aiyuk which many people believe. Deebo's style of play/how they use him is catching up to him. Also, they have too much money tied up with McCaffrey, Kittle and Trent Williams. They also have to get ready to pay Purdy.

Agreed. However ayuik ans his representatives are paying close attention to the market and will not be giving any home team discounts. The 49ers need to focus on thier secondary. Thier front is a year older. They need to put resources in thier secondary so with that being said I can see them wanting draft capital for Aiyuk.

Absolutely agree. That's what we need to do. Create our own stars... it's comical of the low number if WRs that actually flourished here.. branch, Givens, edleman, to name a fee.

Polk & baker along with Pop can all grow with Drake and become play makers for this offense. Well pop already is. The closer we get to the season the more I feel like Drake will be starting

I agree their secondary is an underrated problem. My friend is a die hard 49ers fan and doesn’t want to see this.

But I think their #1 issue is their interior line which they once again didn’t really address. I’ve never seen such horrendous play within the interior on a good team the last 3-4 years. The interior pocket was consistently pushed back during Jimmy’s time and Purdy is facing the same fate. Until they fix this, they won’t win the Super Bowl.

Your right. I remember when that had that 3 game loosing streak, thier interior was allowing so much pressure that Purdy couldn't step up and hit guys. That is an area we will need to attack when we see them this season. I believe you shut down macaffrey, gonzo locks up ayuik, we severely limit them.

Patriots would be fools to trade a first rounder for him and even more foolish as that numbskull Violin suggests trading both Christian Gonzalez AND a 2025 first rounder.

I am not even sure he is a #1. A very good #2. He is no Tyreek Hill
2nd rounder would be the max I would give up for him especially when you consider they will be paying hime 35 must/year.

I'm not a huge fan of signing him yet. He needs to pick his game up. He barely had 1,000 yards on the ground in 2022 and was projected to have a big drop off even if he played all 17 games in 2023. He's also not had more than 5 rushing TD's in a season.

What's crazy is that 27 years ago 6 for $36M was too much for Curtis Martin, but 4 for $36M is fine now.
He isn't going to make 36M. I doubt he makes much over the 17 guarantee.

I’m not sold on Gonzalez, but trading him, a 2025 first rounder, plus signing Aiyuk probably close to $30M per year on a bad team is a GM killing type move.

I like Aiyuk, but not that much. He gets a lot favorable coverage with teams worrying about Kittle, McCaffery and Samuel. Not to mention he has the best play designer in the league along with Andy Reid.

It is one of those situations where he thrives as a #2 but is an unknown as a #1. He's #2 in SF but would be #1 here. Juju Smith Schuster went from 1,400 yards as a #2 behind Antonio Brown to 500 yards as a #1.

Don't get me wrong, I'd definitely take him but I absolutely agree with you that he is not worth a #1 - especially considering the realistic chance our #1 next year is top 10 overall. He's in the final year of his deal. I wouldn't even give up a day 2 pick considering we also have to give him 5 years, $160 million.

No. Gonzalez is special. I saw enough in 4 games that he's special. Gonzalez is part of the future. Guys everything you want in a lockdown corner. I like ayuik... however I'm hoping we can create our own WRs.. like green bay is doing.

Gonzalez is a cornerstone player you don’t trade those guys.

probably around mid 20’s
I expect that he has already rejected a mid-twenties form the 49ers.

It seems unlikely that someone else will offer a 2nd plus a mid-twenties contract.
