Vegas' 2024 Over/Under Win Total for Pats: 4.5

Damn I hope it stays at 4.5 by the time the Huckleberry Casino opens its creaky doors

I like the over for virtually any team any year. Even ****ty teams usually pull off 5 or 6 wins.

It is spot on for many reasons:

1. Inexperienced first year coach who has never even been a coordinator
2. backup qb as starter, rookie as backup
3. No # 1 WR
4. Potentially weak OL
5. New OC and new DC
6. tough division and conference

Take the under

Can see the under while still not having the fewest wins in the league. So then it’s deciding who to bet if thinking that.

Even if they come out limp it feels like some other team will find a way to fuk up even worse or tank harder. Just look at this last year.

I'll take the over, last year the Pats lost 5 games by 5 points of less with a crappy kicker and a woeful offense.. what I have seen so far is encouraging and all indicators point to a better season than last year.

can't be worse than last season with all the improvements on the field and on the sidelines.

Definitely over 4.5, but not necessarily by a lot. 6 wins currently feels right. If Maye is ready to go early on and is successful then closer to 8 or 9 wins.
I'd put the under and over on the Game Maye starts at 5.5, with my gut taking the lower.

3 win season with close competition from Denver, giants

Still taking the Over for now, but not by much. 6 wins tops. Big question marks at Outside CB - both starters AND depth, as well as Deep Safety, Left Tackle, Alpha WR & 3rd-down RB (not to mention a lack of overall explosiveness in the offensive backfield) plus of course near-guaranteed mediocrity from the QB position... Oh and let's not forget the deer-in-the-headlights coaches we have throughout the staff; as Borg mentioned previously, they might cause 1-2 losses all by themselves.

Are there improvements on the sidelines?

A strong argument can be made the "sidelines" has taken the biggest step backwards of any grouping on the team

Yes, a strong argument can indeed be made that that the biggest step backward compared to last year is in coaching. I agree with regard to coaches on Defense and Head coaching, I don't think that coaching on Offense or Special teams is worse than last year.

BTW, please list the other groups (in addition to Defensive coaching and the Head Coach) that have taken major steps backwards compared to last year.

OF COURSE, IT IS WAIT AND SEE, BUT
I don't see any units that are likely to be significantly worse than in 2023, and several that are LIKELY to be better.

There’s a good chance they are a much better football team than they were last season… and they still finish with a top 5 pick.

4-6 wins, I'd take the over. If the defense is as good as last season and no way the offense can be worse than last so yeah, the over.
