Rumor: J.J. McCarthy is Threatening to Hold Out of Minnesota Vikings Training Camp

A rumor has surfaced via a popular Twitter (X) account that claims J.J. McCarthy is threatening to hold out of Minnesota Vikings training camp.

He's apparently looking for the entirety of his signing bonus up front, which the Vikings haven't done previously. It's been an interesting offseason as most of these contracts used to be a foregone conclusion when it came to draft picks, but it feels like the parameters are being tested more than we've seen in the past recently.

LOL - never seen a more overdrafted QB in my life. He should have been a 4th rounder at best. He knows he is not likely to see year 4 as a starter so makes sense he wants the whole thing guaranteed.

If I am the Vikings, I would call his bluff. He is only hurting his development sitting out.

I see this as a red flag if I'm the Vikings front office - meaning McCarthy doesn't think he'll get another contract in the future. However, I do think contracts need to be guaranteed which would also help reduce the overpaying of players.
