Even though Damien Harris may disagree, I’m in Belichick’s corner as the GOAT!

It's also not rocket science to conclude that it is a terrible idea to bring in two bozos in over their heads to run your offense and develop your first round pick QB beyond the kid who had a half decent rookie season and risking losing the locker room but...well that happened anyway.

Some coaches can develop QB's. Some can't.
For most reasonable people having coached Brady would be enough to say he can.

But given that he had Brady for the Bulk of his career Cassel and Jimmy G would also be good examples too. Had either one of them been in Mac's shoes Bill's probably still our coach.

Because Manning wasn't playing well enough to carry their weak defense. Also, the defense was a big problem and management didn't think Mora was the guy to fix it. As soon as Dungy was fired, he was immediately hired by Indy. They won at least 10 games in each year during his 7 year stint in Indy.

It's very clear Mora just wasn't a good coach.
That you think 24 year old Tom Brady was why the 2001 Patriot's defense was ranked 6th in fewest points per drive is peak fanboy nonsense.

Moreover that you and SB1 believe any QB can turn a bad defense into a good one shows how really delusional you QB fanboys are.

Shula or Belichick?

The numbers suggest Shula. And with no suitors for Belichick, who is visiting the ancestral homelands of Croatia, it’s going to stay that way.

Bias with fans here—Belichick is more recent—will assert BB as the greatest. But this Dolphins video cast of old guys including the great Larry Csonka (Is he a Croat too?) show me that indeed Shula is the greatest. And I view them as the enemy.

Listen to them and how they say Shula got them to the unnatural standard of true excellence.

I'm not the biggest BB fan, and I have repeatedly said that Brady deserves the credit.

With that said, the numbers speak for themselves. Clearly Bill has the best HCing record in the NFL history. I would say the only true challenger is Paul Brown, who basically invented a lot of modern day concepts and change the game, and won 7 championships.

In order of championships:
Paul Brown
Bill Belichick
George Halas
Curly Lambeau
Vince Lombardi

In order of playoff wins:
Bill Belichick
Vince Lombardi
Paul Brown
George Halas
Curly Lambeau

In order of playoff win percentage:
Vince Lombardi
Bill Belichick
George Halas
Curly Lambeau
Paul Brown

In order of regular season games over 500:
George Halas
Bill Belichick
Paul Brown
Curly Lambeau
Vince Lombardi

Years in the playoffs:
Bill Belichick
Paul Brown
George Halas
Vince Lombardi
Curly Lambeau

There's only one guy on this list above who is ranked first or second in every category.

He won 31 playoff games, the next closest won 9.

Yes case closed.

Like I said the only difference would be the non-statistical impact on the game. Like Paul Brown probably impacted the game the most out of the list above in terms of concepts. But yes BB wins hands down statistically.

What does Tom Brady have to do with Peyton Manning with Jim Mora in Indy?

Scotty Bowman…

I like to say BB is the best in the modern age, and Paul Brown was the best from the old school.

We're talking leather helmets, to the modern age gear and salary cap... and I despise "lists."

BB also revolutionized defense over the decades, he was the premier defensive mind of his generation.

Championships above all else.

One strike against Bill in this debate is his coaching tree is more like a stump compared to his peers at his level. Hopefully Mayo begins to change that,

His Coaching tree produced one of greatest college coaches of all time.

And his kids, Mayo, and a few others still have a chance to do him proud.

Then there's Vrabel who isn't technically from his tree.

Lastly they weren't the best but Groh, O'Brien, and a few others were ok.

Not ideal...at least not compared to his historical peers in a GOAT coach conversation.

Saban nothing needs to be said.
Ferentz as well, has had a collegiate HOF career coaching
While Schartz and Flores have failed as HC's, they certainly have been good coordinators, and still are.

If we're going to just call Saban a 15-17 coach then of course it's not ideal. But in the real world Saban's a Mic drop.

Aside from BOB the HC's have abysmal records and Skippy McDaniels is undefeated against BB.
