Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

Porzingis putting on a clinic on offense and defense tonight, he must be psyched to be back playing.
Not just Porzingis.

58 - 29 late in the second ? ! ? ! ? !!!!

Bunch of whiney *****es getting their asses handed to them.
7’1” 230+ Lively hitting the deck and falling like a sack of flour after getting brushed by a guy nearly a foot shorter than him. The dude’s 70s pubic hair looking haircut doing him no favors either

Celtics probably play the best zone defense on the planet. You’re not beating this defense with two guys who want to dribble all game. Mavs are ball centric with Luka and Kyrie. Celtics aren’t being aggressive and are just waiting to trap them. Mavs don’t have the ball movement needed to crack this defense. We’ll see if they make second half adjustments but off dribble playmaking is their whole identity.

Celtics D letting Dallas beat themselves, that's some clever stuff right there

They have 2 great offensive players.
But the C's are a much smarter overall team.
And a ?much better defensive team. The Mavs have become one of the better defensive teams in the nba but not on the same level as the C's.
Finally, the C's are a better offensive team.
All 5 starters have All Star talent offensively. They're all plus defenders as well.
Haven't even mentioned the bench.
Does that about cover it?

I don't recall seeing a 7 footer shoot 3's, dribble, and play d like i just saw Porzingis do. Is that common now in the NBA?

More common than it used to be.
And a lot of em are Europeans.
The talent level of top Europeans today
is astounding.
Jokic, best player in the nba.
Doncic, best offensive player on the planet

Dallas seems to be countering by just going all in on their iso ball. Clearing out the offense. Not a very versatile team.

Hopefully stop the bleeding sooner than later

That Tatum 3 was huge.
Order restored.

Even when they made the big run, Dallas didn’t get any easy shots.

Thanks. I'm starting to like this sport again.

Jaylen channeling his inner Dikembe

The NBA is so much better than it was 10 - 15 years ago. Players more likeable, more team oriented, just a good overall product.

I think Dirk Nowitzki is really the guy who created the template for tall players. 7’0” and could do everything. Shoot 3s, fade-away, post up, drive, pass, rebound, make plays. Durant also, though he’s more of a traditional (extra) tall guard. Some of the new guys like Wembanyama and Holmgren are similar to Porzingis in height and style.

That should, of course, be Doncic.

Yeah, the NBA has climbed back to being really good again. Not on the level of the 80's, when thanks to Bird and Magic the NBA was the #1 pro sport in the U.S.- bigger than the NFL for a while.
Not there yet, but light years better than it's been for a long time

Mavs have 7 assists before pulling starters. 7.
