Alleged Character Issues in Patriots Draft

That's like saying it's okay to draft Ryan Leaf because we don't know for sure if he'll continue showing the same characteristics he had in college. He's just immature. It's absurd.

Would you rather have your daughter stay in a room for one hour with 100 criminals or 100 men with clean records? Sure, something could go wrong in either, but if you had to make a choice, you will go with the safer bet.

It's not just criminality: it's self-centeredness and lack of drive to improve. Look at JaMarcus Russell and Manziel. Ignore the red flags and you get burned. Maybe you take a flier or a guy like that in the late rounds.

Sure, we all have positives and negatives. We're being evaluated constantly, at home and at work. And the same consequences result if character is ignored, minimized or rationalized away. You have to decide if you can live with the flaws as you see them today, or decide to cut and run should things not improve.

My daughter isn't going to play football with either group of 100. She also isn't in charge of running an NFL draft or putting fans in the stands so this statement has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.

I was just making conversation here and you used Parcells as some kind of example of purity. You certainly don't have to agree with me but bringing a poster's family members into an exchange to bolster your argument is weak at best and a "Strawman Argument" at its worst.

Well now that BB and his methods are gone I think Mayo could have a dinner or two with Mike Tomlin to get some advice, I know dude hasn't won **** in a while but overall the Steelers seems to be a good organization from this point of view and Tomlin seems to be respected by the players and has control over the environment. He once was a very young coach too.

People keep talking about the Antonio Brown days etc but that was a long time ago and he was brain damaged already, then went to have problems in all teams after that.

I'm sure these guys will seem like choirboys compared to past Krafty Bob All Time Character Guy Draft Picks Christian Peter and Aaron Hernandez

Moss actually complained about playing Time. We drafted gronk and hernandez in '10. He balked that offseason about him being phased out the offense. He said he resigned here to play with brady be the focal point of the offense and win a superbowl. Bill benched butler do to an issue with Steven belichi and his wife reportedly who knows really. Bill had a deal in place to send gronk to Detroit to the 2022 offensive coordinator of the year in Patricia. However the top agent in sports drew rosenshaus wasn't having it and gronk said he'd retire he is only playing with TB12. Bill came to the Patriots with pedigree from the giant's. That's why he was respected. He was a hell of a DC for Parcells.

Once he and brady began thier legacy together then came the rings, accolades and further accomplishments. Players respected Bill they didn't always like him. Don't believe me ask Ted Johnson.
BB kicked Alex Gurrero off the team plane and then out of the locker room.

BB then sent Brady down the road. Spin it any way you want, but there can only be 1 General on a Belichick team.

All Time Character Guy Draft Picks Christian Peter

Kind of unfair putting him in the same basket as he-we-cannot-name.

Peter actually turned his life around:

After the 1996 season, the New York Giants signed Peter as a free agent on condition that he go through counseling for substance abuse, attention deficit disorder, and anger management.[7] He apologized for his behavior while at Nebraska and still speaks about the Giants today as having saved his life.[6] After four years with the Giants, he went on to play with the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears, where he retired in 2004.

Post playing career[edit]

Today, Peter speaks openly of his sobriety, past struggles, and those who have helped him along the way. He travels to schools, businesses, communities, rehabs, and correctional facilities sharing his story in hopes that someone struggling will be helped. Peter currently serves on the board of the Tigger House Foundation, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to achieving a positive impact by reducing the death rate of heroin and opiate addiction.[7]

Yep and that general is RK.. who owns the team and calls the shots..

The Tuna had the greatest choir boy of them all LT.
Different day and age. LT did more coke than Scarface, and in his entire career he was suspended for a grand total of 4 games.

Haha, what are you talking about? It's a thought experiment. It's a hypothetical. Any father would chose the room with 100 non-criminals, unless they are deranged. Replace "daughter" with YOU if you like. It's the same hypothetical. Does that make you feel better? The point is that with people, background matters. Character matters. And when forced to chose, unless a person is deranged, they will act like it matters. You know what's weak? Acting offended to weasel out of actually making a viable counter-argument.

Also, it's obvious you don't know what the Strawman Fallacy is.

Randy Moss, Tyreek Hill, Cam Newton, Warren Sapp, Dan Marino, Ben Roethlisberger, Aqid Talib, Dez Bryant… just of the e top of my head “character issue” guys

if bedard thinks bakers the only kid in this draft that's been around guns he's dense. seems like a lot of bedards league sources focus on the patriots when they need to be focusing on their own team.
You are assuming that Bedard has real league sources who agree to talk to you. I’m guessing that his primary source’s name is George Glass.

(if you get the joke/reference, you are old))

It appears to me that you might enjoy arguing with people on the internet. Some people can argue the same point all day, day after day, ad-nauseam. I think doing this is a gigantic waste of time so I try to say what I want to say and move on. If anyone agrees or disagrees with what I say, that's OK.

It's obvious that we don't agree on this particular issue so I'm letting it go and I suggest you do the same. . .

So Bedard has some claims from League sources about potential character issues among some of the Patriots' draft choices.

Nothing on Mayes, and not much on Polk: "Another league executive said there was a red flag with Polk but he would not offer specifics. Other teams said this was a surprise to them, they had nothing."

Wallace a bit of question on drive.

Baker significant issues - fights, guns, very problematic father. "One league executive estimated that Baker was off the board for half the league." Arrived at OTAs with an entourage.

Milton - "heavy maintenance, partier."

Bell - "He was a borderline (non-fit/off-the-board) for us. The questions or concerns were personality fit: diva, selfish, party habits. Emotional maturity."

So all-in-all sounds like a much riskier group than in past years - they clearly had a looser cut-off than the old regime, where Belichick allegedly only wanted to coach non-problematic guys. Perhaps why we could never draft a WR given they seem to be more inclined to divadom.

I've read the same things about Baker too... The dude needs to STFU and ditch the posse.

Fred Tomiln Sanford

The Steelers were a circus with Bell and Brown because Fred Tomiln is a players coach like Mayo who appeased the players rather than kicking them in axx.

If Fred Sanford had been a football coach, he would've kicked them in the ass too.
