Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

I wasn't complaining, its a nod of respect to Indiana...
Yep. They played hard. Especially Nemhard, McConnell and Siakim. Those 3 carried the team. Nesmith put out effort too.
I gained some respect for them.
C's are just a superior team

I've questioned this team's maturity and bemoaned its lack of poise for years. But credit served where it's due, this incarnation seems to have arrived.

I wasn't complaining, its a nod of respect to Indiana...which is well deserved. They fought hard and made us work for it.

Indiana got swept. That is the same as getting kicked in the balls. If you want to respect them for choking over, and over, and over again, go ahead. Not me.

My son lost a championship game in soccer and I told him that we had to go get the 2nd place trophy. My son said the coach told them to all go home because 2nd place is for losers. I said his coach was right and we drove home.

I wasn't as high on Nembhard as others here were but, after that series, I'm wondering if it's Carlisle's system that makes Haliburton such an offensive weapon? There didn't seem to be a major drop off in Indiana's play without him.

Why are you being a ****? Yeah they got swept but they put forward a really strong effort and pushed us. They didn’t have the experience to close out against a team like the Celtics. If you have a problem with other people acknowledging that, which the team itself is doing, just ignore it.

Didn’t see whole game, watched last five minutes.

Brown made like 3 huge defensive plays at the end. And pass to White was biggest play of game. Brown showing growth, making plays outside of just shooting. Hope he can keep it up in Finals.

Tatum still taking some questionable shots in crunch time…disappointing, but at least the previous game gives me hope. Not horrible shots but not what I expected after last game.

White should have been Eastern Conference Finals MVP imo but Brown had a really good series, congrats to him, he’s playing at a very high level especially on defense. The big 4 were all outstanding.

What? Lol. I’ll grant you that the Mavs will likely put up a good fight and maybe even win but this is wildly pessimistic when the Celtics are the better team.
If the Mavs win the banner then the comment can't be "wildly pessimistic" it has to be optimistic.

At the time of the posting the Celtics had played 3 games against the Pacers and two of them while "W" for the Celtics they were played poorly by the Celtics. Now the Celtics have closed out the round with a sweep but 3 of the 4 wins were not championship quality games played by the Celtics. As they were played by the Celtics, they would be losses against the Mavs playing as they have in their 3 games against the Wolves.

Many of the NBA experts are saying without Porzingis the Celtics won't win against Dallas.

Dallas is hoping to get back Derrick Lively II, 20 years old, 7' 1" Center.

Also the Dallas Mavs are hoping to get back Maxi Kleber, 32 yrs old, 6' 10," Power Forward who has been out since game 6, May 3rd, of their first round, recuperating building strength in his shoulder. So that is two guys back for Dallas and one for the Celtics. There still is a chance for more injuries to the Dallas Players as the round against the Wolves is not over, game 4, sweep time tonight.

Cool. I'm going to be in Dallas June 12th....Game 3

Might need to wear my "Bird" t-shirt in the airport on my flight home Thurs am.
Wear it all the time there.

Tatum still taking some questionable shots in crunch time…disappointing
In so many ways the team feels fundamentally different. Just a massive shift in terms of temperament and approach. Agreed that Tatum taking 11 threes, with a few of them being the dribble around-step back-come on that's not the best shot there-is one of the few areas that could still be cleaned up

Those who know know White's real value.
Usually guys like us who actually played the game.
NBA players know.
They'll tell you White is the 2nd best player on the C's. I agree.
That's taking nothing nothing away from Brown,Jrue or KP.
All great players.
Brown had a great season. A legit allstar.
I'm higher on him than you.
But White still is vastly underrated.
It's funny but true we see it all the major pro sports- a guy will outplay established superstars but it takes another year or two before everyone recognizes it.
Happens in the nba nfl and mlb all the time.
I know you and I had this discussion.
I think you may be getting white confused with being the second best with most clutch.
He by far is the most clutch player on the team.
He is likely the 3rd best player on the team.
Tatum and brown are superior athletes to him.
They can get shots of thier own athletic ability
White is a smart, crafty player and excellent ball handler. And a dam good 3 point shooter.
I've always said owners show players how they view them by the contract. That's what brown got. Nonetheless our starting 5 is all NBA caliber. I want White extended he'll probably get something similar to what jrue got.

Agreed. Watching this team. We are so much better when we attack the rim. We create shots for our shooters. It's nerve racking to watch them jack up neccessary 3s sometimes. Tatum and brown look gassed. Be good to have them rest up.

Is this a situation where anything but a title is a failure? That's harsh. Buy many pundits are saying the season means nothing unless they win it all.

**** the media and the pundits, it’s okay to be happy that we made it to the NBA finals.

But of course it’s a failure without a championship; especially this season. It was also a failure in 2022. In New England with our best teams it’s always championship or bust.

I believe that ownership badly wants that elusive banner 18.. especially seen as how it went for us in the finals last time. That's all it is

It's title or bust this year. First time I would say that during this era but it is

Just thought I'd mention.. fans just need to let the kyrie BS go! Just let it go! Winning the tittle is the goal not worrying about kyrie.
