Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

I said it in the Miami series and I'm going to say it again - the teams the Celts are playing in these playoffs have watched and learned. Foul the Celtics on every drive and eventually the refs will stop calling it. I'm going to start calling it the Bam Defense. I see all the Pacers fans on Facebook complaining about the FT disparity and posting screen shots of every perceived foul against the Pacers. Screw that. I don't care if the Celts shot 30 free throws. It should have been 60.

KP is definitely not coming back fully healthy. The question is if he will be healthy enough to be effective. I have my doubts too. I definitely need to see it before I believe it. I'm rooting really hard for the Mavs to beat the Wolves.

Good god you freaking voices of doom

I say he's back by game 5!!! Sunshine lollipops baby!!
I think if this were the finals, he’d be playing now. Calf injuries are very persistent. In fact hasn’t this been an issue all season with him?

Athletes aren’t likely to fully heel from them until the offseason (or surgery.) I think it’s really about risk/reward going forward. They’re only going to get so much out of him so going to be sparing about his usage based on need.

When Rodman was with Detroit he hadn't yet become the absurd person he became in Chicago. He was a ferocious defender and rebounder. As frustrating as he was for opponents, he was way low on my list of people to hate on that team. I would have taken him, Salley, and Vinnie Johnson on my team in a second.

Hence;
I know a lot of folks would say Rodman now but at the time...

...and for it to go 7.

Agree. I read he had a Grade 2 strain. If the below is true he ain't coming back 100% no way.
I was under the impression most Grade 1 muscle strains took 21 days from injury to full return.

Unfortunately for them, the Celtics have played and learned in the playoffs for multiple years.

They, more than anyone, including the fans, know that the fouls are too inconsistent to gameplan with. That the three isnt always going to drain. That you will lose a game to an entire bench. And it's clear in the ability to strike back both in game and between games, even off a loss. The playoffs are a ****in slog.

I think we're good.

Joe forced into bringing Brissett on, sparks the D, Boston goes on a run, benched for the rest of the half. Meanwhile, Hauser is stinking up the joint and Tillman hasn't seen the court.

The team wins in spite of him, not because of him.

Can Tatum handle pressure?

How about the Jay's being consistent together and by that I don't mean consistently bad.

Woof. You think GameDay threads are bad here? I've stepped into Reddit a few times and it's roughhhhh.

Jaylen Brown is outstanding. Too bad about Halliburton’s injury. Would prefer to have swept them at full health.

Jaylen great game. Was the best player on the floor tonight.
Tatum finished strong after slow start.
Rest up, I expect better game from Pacers on Saturday. C's defense was outstanding

Pacers aren’t winning 4 of 5 with or without Haliburton. I think this will be a sweep. With exception of Brown dominating with his drives, the Celtics haven’t even played that well on offense yet.

Small ball worked tonight when Kornet went down. Brissett had some really strong minutes as I expected.

+18

C's are just a better team. Our offense is just as good as theirs but Indy doesn't have enough defense to be a legit title threat. C's win games with just their D.
Indy should take a page from Mavs- who've been an offense- only team for a while. Dallas quietly improved their D and that's a lot of the reason they beat Minny on the road. Luka in particular.
Wolves should still win that series but I wouldn't be shocked if Mavs win it.
Indy may win a game or 2, but they have no shot at winning the series.

I’ll be really surprised if the Pacers don’t get swept without Halliburton. They’ll probably put up the old “superstar out” high effort game but then again they already do it so I’m not sure what more they have in the tank.
