There's No Way Schuster Makes This Team.

And the notable omission that their best tackling corner was on the bench because... um... why was he on the bench?
Gilmore was better than Butler at everything, stop sniffing glue.

Of his own making… he was disgruntled about his contract. He deserved to get benched, which is why he won’t talk about it to this day and why he was crying on the sideline.
He turned down a similar contract offer from Bill that he got from Titans due to guaranteed money in 2016. He bet on himself that season. The reason his play suffered was due to him being upset with gilly being signed.

He gave up six touchdowns in his coverage, tying for third-most at the position, while also yielding the 11th-most yards at 698 and ranking 108th in yards after the catch at 233. He sucked in 2017.

He also had the gall to go out and blame the coaching staff because he let Jay Cutler and a 5'7" sixth round pick WR destroy him.

Incompetence would have been reason enough to bench Butler. Screwing over his teammates the week leading up to the biggest game of the year was the nail in the coffin.

Also the player that replaced him Eric Rowe went on to have a nice little career and was a better player than Butler going forward.

Facts suck for you.
Rowe was gonna get his snaps anyway. The issue was rotating in Justin Bethel and a collection of special teamers out there. Butler may have been a mediocre starting CB but that's miles and miles better than the guys we trotted out. We had a bunch of Mac Joneses out there making NICK FOLES look like peak Montana. Replace any one of them with a mediocre player, like, say, the starting corner you left on the bench, and it likely means at least one more stop in the whole game, which is all they needed that day.

Cut Butler as soon as the final whistle blows if what he did was so egregious, but don't hurt the team on the biggest stage that they worked so hard to get to.

His own fault… nobody else’s.

A real man doesn’t cry because a coach yelled at him, he cries because he screwed over his teammates and knows it.

That was the right way to handle it. Not flip the bird to his team because you have a grudge against one player. Can't say I blame Amendola for being miffed about that game to this day.

No, the issue wasn’t even an issue once the Patriots switched Gilmore to Alshon Jeffrey and kept him there, the WR’s did next to nothing in the second half of the game.

The real issue was Patrick Chung getting injured and leaving the game by halftime, that allowed Zach Ertz the TE to produce in the second half.

Bottom line is football is a game of attrition and the Patriot defense was toast. They weren’t winning that game no matter what, with Butler the result could have been worse not better.

Bolden was pretty good in training camp before being concussed. Sticking with my binky to make huge strides. Think he makes an impact at 2. Coached up by Dion and has all the measurables you want. 4.3 speed, 6’2 205 38 vert, Mold him into that guy you want. Don’t sleep on him.
Was my binkie before and elevated to epic standards after we drafted him.
That injury really pissed me off.

Butler was going to be a free agent, destroying his reputation before he hit the open market would have made Bill look bad and ruined the locker room.

BB keeping his mouth shut is what got Butler paid, which is why he walked it all back once he became a Titan and thanked Bill for making his entire career.

Butler sucked, got benched by his very next team… BB haters ignore uncomfortable truths.
Not sure what the reasons were. If he missed the team plane that’s a no no and would probably do the trick.

2014, 16 and 18. Pretty awesome.

Just the what if’s remain on the Eagles super bowl. The fact the Eagles made 10-16 first downs was mind blowing. Regardless of how good or bad Butler was during the regular season you can’t help but think maybe he prevents 2 3rd down completions and the game has a different ending.

Certainly don’t dwell on it, this team has had too much success, but it will always be remembered as one of the most mind boggling decisions by a coach no matter which side your on.

They didn't need to do anything Foles just went to Agholor in the slot and Blount had his way on the ground in the second half.

Donta Hightower, Alan Branch, Jon Jones and Pat Chung getting hurt is why they sucked.

Your putting your “BB sucks” bias above the truth again. Nobody can take you types seriously.
Edelman also had a season ender. Hightower and Edelman being there would of tipped the scales big time.

The Eagles were the best team in the NFL all year, had the best offensive line in football, rushed for 164 yards at over 6 yards per carry against an injury depleted defense… the notion one bad CB would have saved the day is horsesht.

Edelman also had a season ender. Hightower and Edelman being there would have tipped the scales big time.
330 pound nose tackle Alan Branch would have helped immensely against their Pro Bowl stacked offensive line… woulda, shoulda.

A bad CB, that’s not helping anyone….

Yep, had him in my mock draft that year as well.
He just seemed liked the perfect low risk high reward pick.
I’d hate to see him not get a chance here and be a player elsewhere.
However will still cheer the kid aside when he plays the Pats.
It’s bitter sweet like when Brandon Graham sacked Brady in the superbowl to seal it for the Eagles. Brandon Graham is the coolest laid back guy you’ll ever meet I’m a big fan got to meet and spend a evening with the eagles for a work event and he was awesome even shouted me out afterwards. When he won the superbowl for the Eagles I was happy for him.

Playing an actual CB at CB, instead of rotating special-teams-only players at CB, would have led to a worse result?

Rowe was a better player then and going forward. The only reason Butler wasn’t benched sooner was Rowe was hurt. Butler sucked in 2017, the Titans paid him then benched him. He peaked in 2016.

What was your name before the name change? You read familiar.

BB the GM chose to sign a guy at 60% rather than a guy at 100% he developed and had success here.
JuJu wouldn't have even been %60 when we signed him. Obviously we should have been more concerned about the injury but if the medical staff told him he would only be %60 for the 2023 season then you'd have a story. This story is all hindsight.
