Time for a way too early poll! How confident do you feel about the upcoming season? How many wins do you feel this team will get by the end of the year?

I'm going to go with 6 wins. We should see a little bit of improvement with the defense hopefully coming back fully healthy - Gonzalez, and Judon.

But I don't see Jacoby Brissett winning much with a very unproven offensive core.

And I'm really hoping we don't throw Drake Maye to the wolves right off the bat.

I'd rather he sit back and learn for at least the first 6 months of the season.

Let the kid get his mechanics right, and the playbook down first before you get his teeth knocked out!

What about you guys? Here's your chance to earn the Miss Cleo eerily accurate prediction for the upcoming season!

As I posted on reddit, I believe Maye should start when one of two things are true.

The less desirable scenario: they have no other choice, due to injuries.

The more desirable scenario: Maye has proven he's ready, and the OL has proven that neither he nor we will be subjected to the David Carr Experience 2.0.

There is no reason to sit him just to sit him.

I get it that some people want to see the new guy starting as soon as possible.

If you've got a Ferrari why keep it in the garage, right?

But I still believe that patience and proper development are the keys to getting the most out of Drake Maye.

If you traumatize the kid by throwing him out there to be hammered left and right, soon enough, he'll play as jittery and spooked as Mac Jones did his last year and a half with the Patriots.

That's no bueno for the future of the franchise.

If I'm Mayo/AVP I'm going to be as patient as possible with Drake Maye and let Brissett do his job - absorb the early punishments of an OL and offense that are just trying to first find its feet.

Then let Maye come in later when he's comfortable with the system and the OL has somewhat proven itself to be capable of protecting its QB.

Don't forget that Patrick Mahomes didn't play until the last game of his rookie season and he turned out alright after he was forced to sit on the bench and hold the clipboard for most of the season.

Anyways we're going a little bit off topic. The reason I see 6 wins is this team is going to get incrementally better but I expect a lot of bumps and bruises in the first season of Mayo's career as a head coach.

That's not an indictment on Mayo. Hell BB, one of the winningest coaches in NFL history, went 5-11 in his first season with the Patriots!

For his first season as a Head Coach, Mayo inherits pretty good defensive talent but woefully bad offensive talent as well.

That's the multi-$$$ question: can you take a guy who has been coached up since he was in Pop Warner and fix his mechanics ever, never mind in six months?

How do you get someone who has had what he thinks of as a lot of success and now has millions in the bank to do something radically different?

How many wins do you have them down for?

I'm at four, expecting us to be building more draft capital for next season whether we want to or not.

5-12. But flipping that record around vs the spread is doable. Just like 2000.

This looks like a .500 team if the OL comes together. The offense has to be better than a year ago. If they can keep the giveaways down, and help the defense by getting first downs, the defense will keep them in games and give them a chance to win against the weaker teams.

If they can have a shot at a wild card at 6-7 or 7-6 entering the Cardinals game coming out of the week 14 bye, it will be a good season. They will have a shot to make the playoffs and finish up with three cold-weather games, @Bills, and then two home games with the Chargers and Bills at Gillette.

Stay relevant until until Christmas would be a great step forward.

I have 9 wins. We were at rock bottom last season. I don't see us at the bowels of the NFL offensively this season. Also IMO I don't think Brissett will be starting. I believe Drake will be. By week 5 the NFL will know full well what he is.

AVP was successful with 5 different QBs in one season. That is more than enough success to show he can be successful with Drake. Mayo's entrusted him to develop Drake and he will. AVP could probably make zapp look like a NFL QB.

Call it me being optimistic, but I don't see this team being anywhere as dreadful offensively.

I have them a little higher.. 8-9 wins. The QB position was upgraded, finally addressing the 3rd down back problem.

Polk & baker project to be play makers. Defense is returning 2 of it's best players. They will be a tough out each week. I don't see any offense handling this defense.

I have them at 6-7 wins. I would guess Brissett starts the first month and we end up at 1-3 or maybe 2-2. I think Maye is feeling in out in the second month and we're 1-3 or 2-2 again. Then we start the road trips and finish off with some tougher games and I assume that stretch we don't win a lot.

I pick 7-10, not on your list

I went with 8-9 if the defense is as good as last year. The offense will be better, and over the years ive seen that teams play harder for new coaches, at least for the first year. But one never knows.

This roster is a 4-6 win team. Mayo is a first year HC without being known for really anything during his time in NE and has average assistant coaches. The X's and O's are going to take a massive hit without Bill around. And they have one of the most difficult schedules in the NFL.

Some Pats fans are going through that vicious cycle of thinking the team is better than they really are compared to the rest of the NFL. Many on here thought they were going to be a playoff team last offseason (for some weird reason), but were hit with the rude awakening of how bad they are.

So only 3 more losses than bill. Not bad!
Why you picking out BB? A lot of the people involved in that mess are still here.

Dude, it's 0-17 wins....get over it. I was piggybacking mgteich with his 7-10 wins choice not being there.
