I've got to hand it to the collaboration station, they have brought back all of our priority free agents and got them at really solid value deals. Part of that may have been the team's overall record last year, if so it keeps paying dividends like discounts on stud vet players and guys like Drake Maye.

Wow! Thats great news on 2 fronts. You keep an essentially piece and yet another defender who is happy to stick around here. Really getting the sense that the locker room morale aint as bad as one would expect from a season like last year and the boys are ready to turn things around!

This was something the staff had absolutely failed in doing the previous few seasons. Which explained part of the talent drain.

To their credit, sometimes it wound up being a JC Jackson situation.

Only $41M in guarantees, "max value" of $92M, for 4 years. This seems like an extremely favorable deal for the Patriots compared to what he'd earn in free agency.

This is a steal if Barmore continues to progress based on his trajectory this past year.

Wolf says "I heard some of you baby *****es had something to say about my draft picks, well shut your mouths and have some of this Barmore extension"

I mean... they drafted Barmore and Onwenu, the two guys they gave the bag to, so it couldn't have been too bad.

JC Jackson was the correct player to let go, he got way more money than he deserved... much like Malcolm Butler.

The Patriot way has always been to pay near top of the market for premium players, without actually setting the market. This goes back to BB's arrival in 2000.

Do we know if this is a true extension, meaning this year is still on the books for his low rookie salary, or if this deal replaces the rookie one???

Great news, bringing the entire band back on defense is only a good thing.

Continuity is a great thing, I don't think there will be a massive drop-off with Demarcus Covington running the show. He has been there for years learning under the master and I love that he coached defensive line almost exclusively.

Reiss confirmed that it’s four new years, five total, through the 2028 season.
That makes him the first Patriots player extended into 2028. Dugger became the first player extended into 2027 when he signed his own deal earlier this offseason.

I think it says a lot about what Mayo & Wolf are building that none of these guys are running for the hills. They all want to stay.
I would want to stay too if I was getting paid 23m per season when I was on 2nd round rookie salary previously! The money is a pretty big reason why!

I think NE is a mystery for free agents right now: a new coach, a new GM (who isn't a GM), a new OC, a rookie QB (who is behind a vet QB who never did much), and few playmakers on offense. Give that a year or two and I think agents will feel differently about sending their clients to NE.
This is an important point. The goal of this season should be creating the impression that THIS is a team that is "on the upswing".

Wins, IMHO are less important than being seen as being well coached and, more importantly, COMPETITIVE., even with a somewhat less than ideal roster.

If they just do that, then this will be a place where FA's will be willing to come to.

92m dollars for 4 years. 41m in guaranteed money. That's 23 m aav. So Barmore gets WR1/Calvin Ridley money.

I like Barmore a lot but this also feels like a lot of money. He had 8.5 sacks last year but that was the first year he really had outstanding numbers.
Football is won in the trenches, you pay for guys who can disrupt.

I'm excited about them returning the entire unit while also getting Judon, Gonzalez and Marcus Jones back... along with continued growth by Keion White, who has barely scratched the surface.

The offense doesn't even have to be explosive, if they can be efficient, run the ball, sustain drives and control the clock this team can win a lot of games assuming health.

Given the value of the importance of being strong in the middle of the DL for say 30 plays a game vs having a very good, but aging and somewhat undependable WR is something I would do 100 times out of 100.

We don't need that #1 WR THIS year to make Jacobi look better. We need him NEXT year for Drake. And next year will be a good one for FA WR'S

So you're saying Kraft is cheap, eh?

J/K, I know you aren't, but I'm sure that's what some will think.

Funny, for a guy so cheap, he sure is giving out some good second contracts.
Agreed. Feels good to see our team retain it's own players. The FA market wasn't as desirable this off season. So I feel like the took the right approach. Sign your own guys and draft. Barmore is a top 5 D lineman in the league glad he was rewarded.
