As for FA signings, the market had slim pickings unless the Pats wanted to give Ridley way more than he’s worth.

We can say every FA got way more than they are worth. That is why the players wanted Free Agency. Onwenu got way more than he was worth.

I hear this same as excuse over and over by posters bending over to defend Wolf to ridiculous extremes. Calling for Wolf to be immediately replaced OR saying he is being wise to not pay FAs because they get paid too much are both absurd comments.

Agreed. I would have preferred to draft the BPA not the player that addressed their immediate need. I am not in a hurry to win games, I would prefer to build the strongest team possible until Maye is proven to be a Top 5, maybe Top 10, QB. Then we can be specific to fill out the team around Maye. In the meantime get the best players possible.

You can do anything you want to do, but when one side the ball is really good, and the other is the worst in the league going BPA on the really bad side of the ball makes more sense. I agree overall that a BOA philosophy is the best approach, but it’s not the only consideration, and pretty much everyone agrees that they are going to have to get their QB the supporting cast to succeed if they are going to turn into a good team.

For whatever reason, he would listen to MCDANIELS more than his Scouts and Position Coaches. Even after McDaniels failed in Denver.

When the Boston Pundits are accurately picking 6th and 7th round picks for the team, that's an issue, imho..

I agree on Dejean, who is a better player than Kool-Aid. Don't agree on Colson. They'd likely have taken an OT. Either Amegadjie or trading up for one of Fisher or Sumataia

Same defense which was very good.

Improved offense. Yes Brisset is absolutely better than Zappe and Mac and we have the QB of the future hopefully ready to step in down the road.

The OL doesn’t feel much improved but we’ll see. The receiver group has more potential with unknown but talented receivers being drafted. Pop and Osbourne will absolutely be better group than Parker and JuJu. How could they not be?

Team is better, how much better remains to be seen. If things smoothly I can see 6-7 wins which would be a step in the right direction.

I really don’t think the talent is that bad. Coaching is the big question mark to me. LT too. Everything else I feel okay about.

The talent that was already here last season is great if healthy, adding Jacoby was smart and something they should have done anyway last season, BB might still have a job. They added two WR's in the draft who are similar to young Juju, Osborn and Bourne, so the depth at WR is much better.

Finishing this offseason and draft without having a quality starting left tackle is terrible work by the GM and front office... total rookie move. They had three positions to fill, they filled one of them (QB) and added some WR's who are like the ones they already had. If this team is good in 2024 it will because of the talent returning from the previous regime, health and Maye potentially contributing.

Agreed. Not impressive at this point. Also explains why he interviewed for multiple GM positions and was never chosen.

If Maye works out GM, talent scout, whatever won't even be in the realm of discussion. As fans let's hope for the best. We all know it is a huge difference without Bill here. Looking forward to training camp to see what the 2024 patriots look like.

Im old enough, i remember **** stienbergs days as the gm. Taking the BPA sounds good and thats what he did, the patriots of that era 1980s were good, but not great. They went to the superbowl and got crushed by da bears, then slowly faded away. I like the idea of taking the BPA, with parameters, at some point you have to satrt looking at picking for a position of need. The BPA may not fill the hole on the team, so you take the BPA for that need, instead of the BPA overall at that point in the draft.

Overall I don’t disagree, but I’ll give them a pass this time because they inherited the worst offense in football, and drafted what they are hoping will be a franchise QB. But as a guiding philosophy I think BPA is the best approach, but you always have to employ context to it.

I was advocating for Newton and Powers-Johnson at 34, so it’s pretty obvious where I come down on it. But I still like the Polk pick when I watched him and read more about him.
