Harry and Jones really Great Returns for former First Rounders.
Is what it is. If they were worth more, that would have meant both guys played extremely well and they had better talent ahead of them. Instead, that wasn’t the case so just be thankful they moved on.

Not all the time but for 23 years and 6 Superbowl wins it was.

Why do you people continue to do this? The record speaks for it self.

What the record says is that Bill couldn't win without Brady.

So no, not for 23 years it was.

The Patriots did follow the book on how bad teams ruin young QBs to a T.

- Constantly changing the offense
- A revolving door of coaches
- Not giving the QB enough weapons or protection
- Throwing your young QB under the bus when things go bad
- Not showing support for your young QB when he is the starter and manufacturing and fueling a QB controversy

And Sean Payton hasn’t won without Brees. Every great coach needs either a really good or great QB to win in this league. You can put players in a position to win but they need to be able to execute. That’s just the way it is.

Anytime you trade a former #1 pick for a #6 pick, you are admitting a mistake had been made no matter who made the pick. Now Mac gets to be a “backup” for real and the Pats get to start over again. Too bad but “it is what it is”…
I have to wonder if there's any truth to the BB wanted to trade Mac last off season... and what kind of draft pick that would've gotten.

Zap got cut during cut down day and re-signed with the Pats thinking he was gonna eventually be the starter. Zap destroyed Brissett head to head, so that signing is not gonna affect his moxie (or delusion to some of y'all).
Hard to argue, zap had the best game of his career against Cleveland that day. I wouldn't put any stock into zap if he had to line up against that Cleveland defense now. Give me Brissett, and let's get the QB of the future right this time around.

You can bet that Peterson will be a blessing for Mac. Everyone said he has talent and Bourne, Judon and others in the Pats organization have spoken up for him and said that they wanted to play with him.
BB never forgave Mac for calling outside the organization for help.

Mac will be one of the main reasons why BB will NOT go down as the greatest coach of all time. Top 5 yes.

The records says Bill drafted both Brady and Mac. You're the one trying to rewrite things why do people continue to do this.

There are other rumors that Kraft told Belichick he could trade Mac if he wanted, but there were no offer that was worth trading him.

Bill's biggest mistake with Mac, other than drafting him, was that he thought because Brady won with ok to average talent (at times) that Mac could too.

I was always in the camp that Bourne and Henry were pretty good though. We shall see.

That's the thing. If Belichick really didn't want Mac and wanted to trade him away, everything he did to put Jones in a position to fail comes into question whether it was a result of his arrogance that he didn't need an experienced OC or give Mac the weapons to succeed. I personally think it was Belichick's arrogance that he could win with Patricia running things and without great weapons. But if he really wanted Mac Jones gone, you gotta wonder if he wanted to prove to Kraft that Jones sucked. Still think it was the former rather than the latter.

But if it was the latter, it was the absolute arrogance of Belichick. I said before the season that the success or failure of both men were tied together. If Belichick thought he could make Mac look like an absolute disaster and think Kraft would say "You know Bill, you were right. In 2024, I am going to let you build the Patriots exactly how you want and your job is safe while you rebuild". It was clear Kraft never liked that Belichick chose Patricia and Judge to run the offense and that failure used up all his Super Bowl cache with ownership.

I’m not against trading Jones…..I’m against getting a 6th for him….former first rounder….should have at least gotten a 4th….

It’s for 1 year of Jones. His rookie option hasn’t been picked up yet.

Would have been nice, but he didn’t play well enough to be worth that. Same reason why Harry only fetched a 7th

It is an one year rental. No team is going to give him his fifth year option. Unless he went to a new team and become a top 5-10 QB, the acquiring team become the Giants with Daniel Jones as the best case scenario. He becomes good enough that you want to keep him, but you don't want to franchise for the year. Then you are paying him $30 million a year or letting him walk.

Yes but did Brees win a Superbowl without Payton?

How's Payton Denver run looking?

You can't tell Bill Belichicks Superbowl story without Brady.

You can't say the same for Brady so I don't know why he chose to give all the credit to Bill.
