Player Signing Pats re-sign Hunter Henry

While on the subject of Hunter Henry (and any TE for that matter) I pose this question: How can Gronk, at 6'6 and 265 be such a beast as a blocker, and Henry listed at 6'5 and 258, not be a consistently good to very good blocker? Is it due to upper/core/lower weight placement and/or strength? Is it lack of coaching during his career? Or is it just that he and other such TE's don't strive to be the "Complete Package"? I know that arm length and hand size and other factors come into play. I'm just throwing this out here to see what some of you have to say on why some ever so rare TE's are the complete package, why some are solid receivers but don't excel at blocking, and why some excel at blocking but aren't good receivers? Discuss.
Attitude. You have to want to maul your opponent to be a good blocker.

Take another look at the CURRENT QB room.. you will change your mind.
Yeah you’re right, just wish they were in position to draft one in April.

That Russell wilson news, wasn't a confirmation of he being signed I saw it on patriots news so I just put it up.

He's been their best offensive weapon the last 3 years but truly I was hoping for a complete reset.

Our offense is so far behind on being competitive that it's going to raise a lot of questions if they try and roll back something close to what they already had.

Brother, all you have to do is go look at the current WR roster!
I know.

I really hope we sign Calvin Ridley in FA and double dip @ WR on Day 2 and 3.
I have mixed feelings on Ridley. Now that Evans if off the table, he is my top choice among the WR's if talent were the only determinate. But is he going to be in it for the long haul. One COULD say that he "quit" on the Falcons when he walked away from the team a few years ago. Also is HE the guy you want to overpay (and overpay some team will) on a rebuilding team.

I wouldn't dislike the signing if we WERE able to nab him, but I'm thinking maybe it would be wiser to wait a year. Next year's FA WR class is supposed to be deep and awesome. Now our Rookie QB will be a year into the system and more ready to support elite WR's

Guess this means Mac Jones is back and will have a chance to compete for the starting job... Henry was one of Mac Jones' few supporters in the locker room

This year's FA have shown us that Teams can find ways to lock up their Guys also there's a Huge Cap increase next year. The Reason why I want Ridley is having a guy like him on Offense won't waste our Defense. IF we are going complete rebuild we might as well move Judon. We are going to Learn to Draft and develop our own WR's hope that starts this year.

Good observations, Ken.

Also, notice the safety market suddenly? There are like nine sub-40 and productive WRs coming in this year's class. I wonder how long it will take to saturate that position.

Go to YouTube and put in patriots WRs for 2023.. then look up Ridley and Hollywood brown for 2023..

I think you will see the clear differences.

That’s a good deal. Well done by the front office.

Its been very quiet trading him away.

I'll buy that for Ridley. The guy is super quick on his breaks. I've never seen much from Brown, to be honest.

In my plan we sign DHunter as a younger version of Judon and THEN trade Judon for a 2nd day pick. We get a Judon quality rush threat who is younger and not coming off a season ending injury, plus more cap space to almost pay for the Hunter signing (though I imagine Hunter will have a bigger AV.).

I can also see the value of keeping Matt and not signing Uche but rather Jennings for less but still sign Hunter. Now we have TWO plus rushers to go along with White and Barmore.

Regardless of which plan you go with the key to me is signing Hunter. HE, not Ridley, is my #1 target in this FA class. Ridley is a luxury item.

Van Pelts offense has been very TE centric over the last 4 years with that position seeing at least 100 targets per season.

Njoku was left for dead, but saw 123 targets last season serving as a key component of that offense. The good thing about Henry is his high catch %. Pharaoh Brown too.
