Tre white was an all pro, injuries derailed his career.. I would take a chance on him as a 2nd CB opposite Gonzo.
He’d also be a hell of a lot cheaper than Sneed; though I’d still pony up the dough for him. Gonzo/Sneed or Gonzo/White…

Our WR need is pretty sad. Outside of pop there is no one that DCs have to give attention to. Ridley should absolutely be a target for us as well as Hollywood brown. I don't want to rely solely on a Rookie QB and Rookie WR next season.

I have no interest in either. Hollywood may well be the most overrated receiver in the league.i like the idea of signing Noah Brown, then draft two WR, and see who gets cut in June. The Bengals are going to have to pay Chase soon, so Higgins should hit the market next year, save the money for the bigger signing for then.

I couldn’t pay Noah more than 6 mill a season.
He’s a Jag on a stacked Texans team.
Give me Gabe Davis.

So many good defensive players available it’s crazy.

I would go hard after these CBs and safeties and see if you can get Wilkins. You could have an insanely loaded D at all levels.

The Chiefs WR room is worse than the Patriots. But I think you are conflating need with desperation. The Patriots need 3-4 really good WR’s to really improve their WE unit, but they aren’t desperate because it doesn’t have to get done by tomorrow. IMO they have two full offseasons to get it done, and overpaying lesser players will only make the end result worse.

I think the rookie should sit a year, and I think the Patriots should use their free agent money on getting really good players, and not overpaying those who won’t be worth it. The worst thing they can do is to overpay for free agents who aren’t worth it this year, and not be able to pay the really good ones next year. I would rather see them use their money wisely and sign Noah Brown and draft receivers, then try to sign Tee Higgins when he comes free next offseason, than to overpay for Ridley or Hollywood Brown this offseason, if the Patriots want to build a great team they need to be smart about it, not desperate. I’m all for spending for really good players, I’m just opposed to overspending on lesser players because the best ones got tagged. If I’m spending the money I’m going after Tyson Smith, Saquon Barkley, Christian Wilkins , Noah Brown, and then looking for some mid tier OL. What I’m not doing is overpaying for Ridley, Davis, Fant etc…, because their price tags are going to go above their value due to the better players at their positions becoming unavailable. I’m sure there are many here who won’t agree with this approach but imo it’s the right way to build them into a true contender for the long run, and I’m not as focused on them winning immediately as I am setting themselves up for long term success.

This might just be me, but I think the Patriots' approach to free agency has evolved like this:

Mayo: "We're going to burn the money!!!"

Wolf: "No we're not."

Mayo: "I misspoke when i said we were going to burn the money."

RK sets the budget and determines if cash is being burned. Not Wolf. Wolf does not own the team. The owner sets the budget.

This is correct. 1. Spend money wisely to manage the cap 2. Always get the BPA. Those two requirements lead to a DL like Wilkins, a tall press corner opposite Gonzo, and a new Free Safety like McKinney. There are various CBs and FS that are an upgrade for us.

I seriously doubt we are burning any cash. The mantra will be to build through the draft, which is correct but it will also be used as an excuse to avoid spending any money. It is bologna sandwiches for you.

I agree, that and RB are where they can get the best players on the market. I hadn’t even considered RB until I saw who was available and how low the price tag was. I would like to see them go big for Wilkins and give Saquon Barkley a really good contract, then try to get one of the top Corner’s on the market.

DT DaQuan Jones a free agent with the Bills is someone we should go after. Hard.

He can do the 1 technique and do stunts with Christian Barmore to make the interior of the DL more formidable.

Yep, so many RBs got franchise tagged last year and now hit the market this year, plus all the actual free agents this year. It’s a loaded group.

They can really set up a fantastic defense and add a couple nice pieces on offense, and then build out the offense more heavily via the draft.

Agree completely. And I think people need to keep that in mind when looking at this years free agency. Guys like Tee Higgins won’t be available this year, but Cincy won’t be able to pay both he and Chase, or they will end up using almost half their cap on 1QB and 2,WR’s, so if the Patriots don’t overpay for lesser receivers like Hollywood Brown and Ridley they can turnnaround next offseason and sign a much better WR than they could get now. The best free agent value is to pay for the really good players where the market is strong at the position, instead of overpaying for lesser players where the best players were tagged or resigned, and teams are overpaying for the lesser players out of need. This years RB class and DL are both strong, so paying for the best players, like Wilkins and Barkley makes a lot of sense, and that’s where I would like to see them use their resources. You ultimately build the best team by getting the best players, not by chasing need. And in the Patriots case they can do this because they don’t need to try and beat out the Chiefs, they just need to bring in the best players they can find, and build up the roster,

Yup. This is a rebuild. We will stink for a few years.

If they do things right they should be in the playoff hunt in 25’, and hopefully by 26 they can be one of the teams looking to actually contend for a championship.. I’m not worried about 24’ at all, I just want to see really intelligent moves that lay the foundation for the future. What’s I don’t want see are desperate moves just so they can scrape into the playoffs and go one and done.

Poyer is 33 next month. HARD PASS for a team that is rebuilding. Need younger guys, not plugging holes with veterans.

I wouldn’t pay Hoyer, and I agree that the focus should be youth and building for the long term, but I do think that signing some veterans to short term deals to fill some needs will make Sense. QB is one of those positions, Tannehill, Brissett , and OT another, as signing Tyson Smith could shore up LT for a year or two, it will take 2-3 offseasons to really build a great team with a lot of up and coming players, so they will need to mix in some veterans and leadership, and to patch up some short term needs while they find long term answers.
