These didn't show up but I posted the link to Miller's doc in that post I believe. None of the other "big names" hit 40% very impressive considering age.

This one is interesting bc when you filter this info down to "dropback passes only" McCarthy comes out ahead 30.1% on target percentage followed by Michael Penix Jr (29.3%) and Caleb Williams (28.9%). Daniels’ percentage is only 23.4% and Nix’s is even lower (19.4%).

Against pressure
Might as well bump this for Daniels as well

"Quarterback
Caleb Williams (5), Drake Maye (2), J.J. McCarthy (1)
The quarterbacks this year have a leader in the pack with Caleb Williams, who is projected to be the top pick in the draft, and it might already be etched in stone. The top of this quarterback class is viewed in a very positive manner with Williams, Maye, McCarthy — whom one scout liked for his upside, top-end plays and frame to add muscle/weight — and LSU’s Jayden Daniels seemingly locked in as first-round picks."

Was just reading that JJ McCarthy’s mesures at Combine
6’2 1/2” - 219 lbs (10 more lbs than at Michigan)
Daniels declined being measured and to throw
Declining being measured is a huge red flag. He will obviously throw at Pro Day

McCarthy among names who threw in this comparison video the league posted today:

That video is blocked. Damn NFL.

J.J. McCarthy's FULL 2024 NFL Scouting Combine On Field Workout is on youtube if anyone is interested.

At the combine yesterday the quarterbacks were tested on velocity. Joe Milton who is known for having a cannon, threw the hardest at 62 mph which ties Joes Allen. McCarthy was just behind him at 61 mph. Nix threw 58 mph which is still excellent. Penix didn’t compete.

Here’s a list from previous years:

Some of the notable names from that list:

Anthony Richardson Florida 60 MPH
Will Levis Kentucky 59 MPH
Stetson Bennett Georgia 59 MPH
Sam Howell North Carolina 59 MPH
Justin Herbert Oregon 55 MPH
Jordan Love Utah State 54 MPH
Jalen Hurts Oklahoma 54 MPH
Jake Fromm Georgia 53 MPH
Will Grier West Virginia 59 MPH
Gardner Minshew Washington State 55 MPH
Daniel Jones Duke 54 MPH
Drew Lock Missouri 54 MPH
Jarrett Stidham Auburn 53 MPH
Dwayne Haskins Ohio State 52 MPH
Josh Allen Wyoming 62 MPH
Baker Mayfield Oklahoma 60 MPH
Lamar Jackson Louisville 49 MPH
Patrick Mahomes Texas Tech 60 MPH (Also recorded a 62 mph throw at a private workout)
Joshua Dobbs Tennessee 51 MPH
Mitch Trubisky North Carolina 51 MPH
Jared Goff, California 58 MPH
Carson Wentz, North Dakota State 57 MPH
Jacoby Brissett, North Carolina State 56 MPH
Dak Prescott, Mississippi State 54 MPH
Marcus Mariota, Oregon 56 MPH
Jameis Winston, Florida State 55 MPH
Blake Bortles, Central Florida 56 MPH
Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illinois 56 MPH
AJ McCarron, Alabama 53 MPH

McCarthy’s 61 mph puts him in elite company as does his 3 cone. His forty is supposedly in the 4.5 range. He looks like he’s already bulked up a bit (although I’m skeptical of the 219 he weighed in at.). He keeps rising up the boards and might be a legit candidate for the #3 pick.

I think when we look at Maye most are getting Mitchell Turbiski vibes which is unfair to Maye. A poster pointed this out to me unlike Turbiski: Maye Started from Day 1 at NC I think that says a lot sign me up.
Lazar addressed this. Maye runs a far more complex offensive system than Trubisky ran.

I think there’s a chance McCarthy gets taken at #2 and he’s not even there at 3.

Are we all being right handists when it comes to penix? I get the injury history and all but if he was right handed would we all be saying 1st Rd guaranteed? In the right situation he could be the Marino of this 83 like class. Wasn't Marino the 5th qb taken in 83?

I don’t think it’s a right handed thing, I think it’s his lack of mobility in an age when extending plays and a mobile QB is highly desired. Add his age and injury history.

He threw better than McCarthy. McCarthy was uneven, continued to show he has accuracy issues and pretty much showed why he’s a second round talent with a first round arm.
Penix showed he’s a first round talent that lacks mobility. He was the most impressive QB that worked out yet hes not getting much buzz.
If Penix could run a little and had minimal injury history he’d be in the top of first round conversation.
But, if you watch the Super Bowl, almost all the big plays were made by Mahomes and Purdy, getting out of the pocket and extending plays, that’s becoming a huge desire to want a quarterback.

Im only trusting southpaws on this matter
