DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2024 NFL Draft Thread (Continued..)

BGC, I see a lot of Zach Wilson in McCarthy. Has a great arm, can beat you with his legs. Can make all the throws. I think Zach Wilson was the better college QB, he didn’t have the talent McCarthy had around him (Puca Nacua was a freshman I believe).

That being said, I think McCarthy was definitely more clutch than Wilson his last year in college. I had no confidence in him vs Alabama, when they were down late and had to come back to tie the game to go to OT. He proved me wrong. And he was good in the championship game when he needed to be, was clutch when the time came, though the run game and defense won the game for Michigan.

McCarthy had some things I really like. He’s very young, so he’s far from a finished product (can sit for a year). And I think he’s mentally tough. And the aforementioned physical skills.

If the Pats went with Harrison Jr. at #3, I would love to get McCarthy at #34, though I doubt he’d be available at #34, the Pats would have to trade up to get him.
Wilson really wasn't natural locating/targeting second level defenders or the mof while it's the opposite for McCarthy. That's where he thrives. Wilson could do it but just didn't come naturally when you watch him in real time. Similar to Daniels this year. He can do it but things seem to have to be more in rhythmoff his drop marrying into seeing who he's throwing to.

One of the mid round tackles I have my eye on in case we don’t draft one in the first couple of rounds…I’m guessing he’ll go somewhere between the 3rd & 5th round..

Joel Klatt released his top 5 QB for the draft list. In his opinion there is a clear divide between his top 2 (Williams and Maye) and the next tier.

He loves both Williams and Maye. He said if you put all the QBs from the last 6-7 years or so he’d have Williams and Maye in his top 4 prospects along with Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow.

? But... QBs like Herbert and Allen are better than Lawrence. Hmmmmmmmm....

Sure, but he was talking as draft prospects, not what they became once they got to the NFL.

I will pass thank you.

When pressed who he liked for NE QB in the 2021 draft, this same "Top talent evaluator" stated that "He leaned towards Zach Wilson and Trey Lance"
Same guy gave me crap for saying the Patriots did not have a top 20 receiving group before the 2022 season

He was singing the praises of Tyquon Thornton improving our group

How did that turn out?

Both of you are liars. I never leaned Zach Wilson for us and had a 2nd round grade on Lance. Like Mac. And I was never hyping up Thornton lol. I had a 4th round grade on him.

Both of you are liars. Neither one of you can pull up even one post supporting this. Not one.

I know you are old Joe but I never said that about Thornton. Kind of weird to be making things up at your age.

I can only look at the two posters in question here. One is a known troll who adds nothing and the other is very out of touch/old. Still lying is low.

*scumbag* low considering I always give an opinion when asked and have recorded grades.

?? Isn't the whole point about how good they are once they get to the NFL?

Of course, but what he was saying is that in pre-draft grades, he has Williams and Maye in the top 4 with Lawrence and Burrow.

I know. Thyat's why I'm saying his pre-draft grades are suspect

You’d be arguing against the VERY large consensus that saw Lawrence at the time as a higher rated prospect than Allen or Herbert were when entering the league.
