Watch how our WR MisFortunes are going to immediately change yesss.
He's been in charge of pro scouting.

JuJu Schuster over Jakobi.

Matt Groh does college scouting.

Well, we'll see. I'm feeling good about the hires
I have cautious optimism. I believe these could fail. But also believe they really can succeed.

It's nothing like going into 22 knowing Patricia is your OC.

Curran told us a month ago that Wolf would be in charge of the GM side of the organization. Now, he is bring allowed to bring in his staff.

Groh might stay to give recommendations before the 2024 draft. I don't see him on board after that.

I am pleased that our OC is being allowed to bring in his staff.

Fine. I deleted it. Different source, different article with background, but whatever.

The funniest part of this offseason is Rappaport and everybody else acting like he is breaking big Pats news when Curran did all of it months ago.

Feels like Curran was the guy chosen to get it out there and let people get used to the idea before someone else completely different breaks it as news. Thus the shock and reaction to it would not be as explosive.

Show him the respect he deserves and give him the GM title then.
I'm not sure how many of any at all actually have a title of GM. I think President of football ops, director of personnel, and various things like that is what is typically used.

I think it's more about the layers between yourself and the owner and which side gets more power coaching or front office that really define things.

Pretty sure every other team has a named GM or head of personell, etc. I dont understand their aversion to job titles. What other franchise doesn't even interview HC candidates before making a hiring? Offseason has been a joke to this point.

A little research shows I was wrong. I think maybe they should give someone the GM title then.

Apologies, I wasn’t trying to be critical, I was just trying to add context since you were replying to me. Didn’t mean to offend or say you should delete.

I have heard the meme for so many years in some companies ...
what really is the manager title other than in charge of the bathrooms.

Do not understand why some fans would rather have retreads ... Wolf seems like the real deal.
Wolf has been cutting his teeth for a long time in many places, I think he’s a good pick. Guys like Adam Peters are “hotter picks” but hard to really measure how successful a GM will be who hasn’t done it before. Wolf isn’t far off from those guys and he’s been in NE for about 4 years now, I think he will do a good job if he is indeed the guy with final say.

My hope is that they elect to adopt the draft ethos of the Packers who are very successful at building through the draft, but also aren’t afraid to spend in free agency.

Rapoport further states that Wolf is in charge and leading things. I’ve heard good things about Pat Stewart too. I know people aren’t the biggest fans of Groh based on some of the things he’s said vs the picks made, but I try to reserve judgment somewhat because at the end of the day, Bill was the one making the final calls. Groh is now just helping run scouting and Wolf will seemingly be the guy turning in the picks along with input from these guys plus Mayo, Van Pelt and other relevant folks. I believe they specifically hired McAdoo in part due to his QB scouting talent, and similarly Jeremy Springer has a knack for special teams scouting. So it does feel rather collaborative with a lot of folks contributing but Wolf is running it.

I think we can thank Wolf for almost all of this coaching staff. He leveraged his Packers connections, and then those guys leveraged their connections. It would be very weird to bring in a different GM, or GM-equivalent, later on at this stage after the coaching staff and front office has clearly been molded in a certain image.
It seems to be pretty clear that Wolf is bringing in a lot of staff that he is familiar with. That's called leveraging personal connections. So although his title might only be director of personnel for now, it wouldn't surprise me if that title evolves to GM in a couple of years if the rebuild is considered a big success. A lot of highly placed people in that building will have owed their jobs to Wolf if they can make this thing work out well.
