I know very opinionated PatsFans think Fields is dog crap but a Team who made the playoffs could pull the trigger on him for a First. I think it's good move for them.

Good for the Bears if they can convince a team to pay that price. Even better that it's not us.

I thought they were all set on the guy they picked in the first round who got benched for Mason Rudolph?

Rapoport further states that Wolf is in charge and leading things. I’ve heard good things about Pat Stewart too. I know people aren’t the biggest fans of Groh based on some of the things he’s said vs the picks made, but I try to reserve judgment somewhat because at the end of the day, Bill was the one making the final calls. Groh is now just helping run scouting and Wolf will seemingly be the guy turning in the picks along with input from these guys plus Mayo, Van Pelt and other relevant folks. I believe they specifically hired McAdoo in part due to his QB scouting talent, and similarly Jeremy Springer has a knack for special teams scouting. So it does feel rather collaborative with a lot of folks contributing but Wolf is running it.

Wolf has the experience to have earned the job.

I like that Wolf is the defacto GM instead of Groh. Groh kind of scares me draft choice wise, he was on the same wavelength with Belichick, whose drafts have been bad for the last 10 years. So if Wolf has final say, I’m good with that. That being said, if Wolf drafts an OT at 3, that’s a fireable offense.
I could see it if we are unable to trade down for more picks.

There are a lot of voices in the room now, and a couple have a track record of great QB evaluation, if they are not sold on the QB at 3, then Alt is a better option.

Still, in that scenario I really expect they could trade down.

That would signal that the Bears are looking QB.

Could they look to trade down with Washington though, since there are rumblings Williams doesn’t want to go to Chicago?

If I am Washington then I stay put and make the Bears pick.

Let’s hope the Pats don’t bail out Chicago and trade up.

The only way I see that happening is if collectively they realize there's only one sure-fire QB worth picking and they have to jump Washington to get him. If they do that, they better prove to be right.

A first?! Stay off the crack.

The Bears aren’t in need of a QB if Fields is worth a first.

Wolf is clearly the GM and Groh is player personnel.

I’ve got to hand it to @captain stone d, he called Wolf at GM as the succession plan months back.

Elliot’s dad Ron Wolf was one of the best GM’s of his era, hopefully that gene passed to his son.

The shock and reaction to what? That Wolf is not being named the GM? I miss your point.
Moving on from Bill. They leaked it through Curran to let people get used to the idea.

Imagine hearing no noise all year and then boom Belichick is fired. Media and fan reaction would have been massively different.

That's what you get for drafting N'Keal you cur.

I don’t get the Groh hate. He became director of college scouting in 2021 and our drafts started getting better in 2021.

With all of their draft picks the Bears might be able to find their first elite QB. I'm not sure if they've ever had one.

Sid Luckman I guess?

Post Super Bowl era Jay Cutler is probably the best but you can definitely spell Elite without J-A-Y.

Jim McMahon?

RK has final say. If Wolf had final say his title would be GM. Not complicated.
Owner always has final say regardless of who has or doesn't have the GM title. Deferring to the GM is just one way to wield that final say. I'm sure all owners review and sign off on final draft board.

Groh is NOT in charge of player personnel.
