Can’t accuse mayo and co. of rushing into the OC decision, which is fine with me.
I like the idea of bringing in talented young coaches, who bring fresh ideas and modern concepts, but I am a bit worried about the lack of grizzled veterans on the coaching staff so far. They need at least a couple of guys who have been coaching in the NFL for 20+ years and have seen it all and add some old man toughness to the group. Where are the Ivan Fears and Dantes on the staff. Seems particularly important with a rookie head coach with only five years of experience in coaching at any level.
That’s why I like idea of going after the vet special teams coach for Carolina, who was also the interim HC last year but was let go after they hired their new head coach. Hopefully he is just focusing on the OC position first and then will add a couple older veterans in the next couple weeks, as position coaches, or as an assistant HC.
